I always end up getting better captures when I'm not thinking much about the technical stuff. Completely agree with you on just trying to capture the feeling.

This is such a great video! You articulate the perfect balance of the technical AND artistic “skill” we can think about in our photography.

Yes, this helps. I pretty much just go on photo walks and shoot randomly. Thinking about themes might spur me on a bit. I’ve been trying to think of some “projects” and haven’t really. But maybe more abstract “themes” will work for me. Thanks for all you do.

Projects can be a bit intimidating for sure Jim. Sometimes I find it hard to get motivated for a "big" project, so maybe having a theme might be a good place to to start 😊 Thanks as always for watching the videos Jim!

Nice video Patrick! Do you think that focal lengths could also play a role here?

Thanks Alex 😊 I think they can do. Using different focal lengths to help do the different things I mentioned in the video is another tool you can use. That said, I don't usually shoot any thing crazy myself, mostly because I don't have so many lenses. I'd say most of my shoots fall between 28 to 50 mm in terms of focal length. But if you have the lenses, focal lengths can be very useful tools for sure 😁
