Can you make a video suggesting activities for people who are in their late years of highschool and don't have exceptional extra curricular records but have other aspects (like grades, Sat, recommendations) near perfect? Can you also tell how we can capitalize on our activities. For example if somebody does drama/music very well or knows how to code professionally, how can that be demonstrated in the application in a unique way. Like for instance, shall they create an app, or start releasing original compositions incase of music?
In 9th standard do what keeps you up at night? Me in 9th standard: Let's start a petition to have Zayn Malik as the lead for one direction. Stanford kya reject kare ga, I reject myself ;_;
Kevin Ambali You can do a LOT of stuff participate in extracurriculars , learn coding(I regret not focusing much on it), join a few courses whichever subjects you wish online(I’d recommend coursera)get certification it depends though are you going to study engineering or medical choose according cause it’s going to drain you either way😂
R. Mate I’m not really sure how to respond cause I only focused on studying but if you are good at sports go for that, you could participate in debates, join MUN, participate in street causes around where you live maybe. Join a few clubs when you get into college.
@@pranitanakka2606 hey, thank you for the quick reply. I'm also in the same situation. So my only option, in my opinion, is to study for the engineering exams and get a good engineering college. Because that's what I plan to do, and what i want to do. I was just interested in the admission processes and the requirements for joining these universities. Doing extra curriculars + sat right now along with jee preparation would be a lot of load on me right now. Thank you again for satisfying my curiosity pranita didi/bhaiyya. ☺️ Wish you all the best in life.
you know passion emerges through you, the fact that you were able to give so much to the society and simultaneously kept your grades so high is commendable. I don't think you particularly need Stanford to make you successful.

Your video is amazing. The point is that only 1% of the people know about these kinda programs or ECs in India and people are not aware at all. When the whole Indian youth is running behind JEE and NEET it's very hard to bring awareness among people about SATs.Most of the high schools in India won't give opportunities at all. Its the main drawback. Honestly speaking I don't even know half the ECs which you were speaking in your video. You have to give a very detailed explanation to make people understand how you got opportunities and how was your experience. Moreover, your whole journey. (it's just a suggestion from my side ). There are many stereotypes about the schools abroad so Indians don't prefer to go outside for undergrad programs, I guess. Congratulations on getting accepted into Standford!
A lot of this information isn't being actively spread and I'm just doing my part in trying to help everyone hear about these ECs. I'm sure if you take my video as a starting point, and run a few searches you would be able to understand them a lot better. Other than that, if you have any questions, I would love to answer them :)
Dude,so so so true!!!! There's no one talking about SAT's and such impressive EC's, but at the same time there are 6263828292 opportunities for JEE/NEET aspirants!:/
@@ShauryaSinha Right now I'm in grade 11th commerce and thinking about some summer programs. As you said you attend YYGS and SAKURA EXCHANGE. But i didn't get it when u said that u got to go to japan free. how is that possible? As per my information, we atleast need 2 laks to attend YYGS and that is not possibe for me. So, I'm thinking about SAKURA PROGRAM OF SCIENCE. But, here is the program I'm commerce student. is that possible for me ??
@@ShauryaSinha hey shaurya i am a 11 th class student planning to go to US for my undergrad in computer science. So basically what are the extracurriculars i should do to get a decent university. Till today the three extracurriculars that i hope i could put in my applications are 1.distric level cricketer 2.cricket captain of school 3.MUN Please help.
how did you even do all those activities? geez i am in 11th right now and i swear i went to mun once and sometimes i write blogs thats it and the student exchange program my school doesn't provide, damn i really think i wasted my 8th and 9th grade
Im crying rn. My parents were damn right when they said I wasted my life. This guy started his passion in 2012 while I was awaiting for that fake hyped up Tsunami that never appeared.
Hey man! First of all CONGRATS on Stanford. I'm that Indian who lived abroad a major part of my life but in the end came back and did JEE. Got into IIT Kanpur but watching your videos is so refreshing! I know I worked hard too and made it to a great place but your video just makes me want to rethink decisions😂 Btw your reaction video was awesome, brought back memories from when my Advanced result dropped too All the best!
I hate the dude in the beginning. Please edit him out, I’m pretty sure he didn’t know u we’re filming . I would hate it if he took you to court and forced you to take this phenomenal vid down. Please do so, sincerely 30% gang
Agastya Sinha COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT!!!!! I was thinking the exact same thing, everyone if you think we shouldn’t violate the privacy of the poor boy like the message and we can save him💪
1) Learn a hard skill you can apply to your in-person projects in the future. 2) Ideate about potential plans you have to expand your ECs. 3) Network. Everybody is at home, and you could reach out to students, collaborators, universities. Just a few thoughts :)
Hey Shaurya! I am from India, and surprisingly, I have a very similar profile like yours: 1. Volunteering 2. MUNs 3. Head Boy 4. I went to Germany on a scholarship for 3 weeks You have become an inspiration for me (Yes, I am an OG), and I genuinely thank you for that.
I just started 11th grade.. What advice do you have for students like me (regarding extra -curriculars) who also aspire to get into prestigious institutions like Harvard or Oxford or Stanford or Yale?
@@martianyeast2951 Yeah, Shaurya posted a very comprehensive video regarding this a few days ago. I got a lot of info from that. You can go check that out.
Probably because he received the award in Jan 2020, which is after all the applications have been submitted - so at the time of application he would not have had the award.
hey, love your content!! im starting 11th grade cbse and i would love to know if there’s any internships/ research oriented programs available or how you came across so many cool opportunities like the yygs and human centered design thinking? thanks
Yar i got 9.8 GPA in class 9th , 10th got some 75% , class11th 60% , class 12th got some 72% totally mess :( is there any chance to get into IVY anyone
Hey, I'm Pranav from Kerala, The video was amazing. Thank you for posting a content like this. As I mentioned, I am from Kerala. Highschools here do not have such kind of clubs and other stuff that I can include in my extracurriculars. Is there a chance that I can get into Stanford and Other top universities without clubs and other extracurriculars provided from schools?? Outside of School, I know how to program and that is my passion. That's what I do in my free time. I make apps, games and websites. How can I write this as my extracurriculars???
Bruh if u get good enough grades, you have a great chance at getting in. College vids say all the time that theyve created a website or an app, which ia a good EC. plus, stanford is right in silicon valley, where lots of tech giants are. So if u exert effort and do research you could get in
@@dianaanonymous5794 Dude, I have really good grades. If I was to write all my essays it would be like this- 1) Got some prizes in the Science exhibition in my school(I did something CS related) 2) Again got some prizes on a few regional and school level quizzes (Not CS related though) 3) Competitive Programming ( I do it in my free time. haven't concentrated on this for too long, but it's fun to do) 4) I worked as a Developer in an open source project which aims in providing free educational resources for students in low income families through a project based learning method. 5) I did many side projects such as making a few apps, websites and thinks like Neural Networks and stuff 6) Did a Programming Bootcamp sponsored by IIT Techkriti(that's like the tech fest of IITB) 7) Did a few MOOCS from EDx and Coursera related to Machine Learning, Deep Learning etc. DO you think any of these are decent enough to get into good schools?
@@Notyourtypicalfenboi dude, all the things I did are like school level achievements. This dude has got Prize from The president of India, and you think I am flexing?
Hey Shaurya where did you find this Ecs in India especially it is really difficult to start a club or to find a charity for volunteering or even internship and how will we manage this many things in our daily life?
I'm not even at university anymore but I still loved watching your college acceptance and advice videos. Love the effort you're putting into these videos and good luck on your journey ahead :)
Hey! I was wondering if it is possible for you to tell us how you got a research internship? I've been looking for some for a really long time, and I haven't come across any one that would take a high school junior
How do I develop EC's now? I'm a junior and all I've done in high school was community service and I was part of this entrepreneurship program but that's it. I cannot do anything this summer other than online tutoring. Any tips???
Where are you InDiAnS? . . Me watching video: Here I am! ( trying to get more educated bout these stuff for myself) PS: its UNNATI MISHRA...from my mom 's account.😆
Lots of love from Mumbai. Thanks for making these types of videos. Its great to see a former ICSE student get into one of the most prestigious institutions in the world! This is exactly what I needed to see going into IBDP this year.
@@ShauryaSinha yess boss , I have a friend, she really look forward to getting into stanford in 2021, and I came across your reaction video like yesterday and I instantly shared the vid with her and she legit cried haha. Congrats man!!
Now i am among the 30% to watch this and have happily cursed myself - i am gonna clear graduation this year and have 0 idea about my life GGS a good Dark ahead
Feels like i waited for this video for almost a month..was worth it thou. Also, why tf can’t other Indian students move their asses and film such video.. THEY ARE HELPFUL. Lastly, I feel like I have officially become a fan of this guy right here.
