Hey Chana! Yey, I was waiting for this video. The velvet headband is such a good idea! I'll try that out in the summer, when I tie scarves on my head as alternatives to wearing a hat. All the scarves you showed were so pretty! I love the turban style the most, I think, but all of them look great! Have fantastic day too! :)
A very good day with very good company. Even do I do not see scarfs on my forseable future (love them, buy them, bearly use them, and for shure not in my head😆), love to see them and what you acomplished with them. Continue to share with us.
I’m Indian and it’s so sweet that my cultural dress the saree is now a part of your cultural dress. It’s beautiful when we all appreciate each other’s culture and values. ❤️❤️❤️
I have a whole bunch of skirts made of upcycled saree fabric, with proceeds going to help the artisans who make the skirts in India. 😊 I love the beautiful fabrics, and keeping them from going in the landfill is such a bonus for everyone!
This was so beautiful! As a Muslim woman, I could identify with a lot of what you said, especially at the end about covering your hair being your own choice💛 Thank you for making this and all your other videos, they are amazing!
I am a Friend (member of the Religious Society of Friends, aka Quaker(s)), who covers full time. Wrapunzel is one of the 3 companies that I buy scarves and poofs, as you call them, from. I love that Wrapunzel has a FB group that welcomes women of all/no faiths who cover, where we can all build each other up in positive ways.
@@jaroffireflies it’s not something that all of us do, it’s a personal choice. As far as I know, I’m the only one in our congregation who does. I do know that there are other Friends who do.
So...I've known the creator of Wrapunzel for decades and you don't know how excited I was when I saw the thumbnail. I literally wrote her so excited that she was mentioned on your channel. You are awesome and as always bring a ray of sunshine into our day!
Queen!!!! Covering your hair is such a significant issue. I loved how you said the reason you cover your hair " I follow the Torah law" bless you bless you bless you. I truly envy the action of following truth and saying it. You go girl!
i really appreciate how informative and practical this video is! im an autistic polytheist, "neopagan", wearing wraps helps me feel safer and more comfortable in public places and even around the house. im dipping my toes in veiling after finally getting a new scarf (my last one which i experimeted with got chewed up by a mouse 😥) thank you so much for your video
I often wear I cover as a Christian I feel it it honors God. I also have recently had to cut my hair, so I was looking for more ways to keep myself covered when I am not in the home. I only knew how to use it one way… so, thank you for sharing a few different ideas. May the favor of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob rest upon you. I appreciate your video. Thank you ma’am.
I love your channel! Wrapunzel carries sari scarfs in three styles. I buy most of my scarfs from wrapunzel and The Little Tichel Lady. They both carry squares but the latter has a lot more square styles. Looking forward to more of your videos.
@@jaroffireflies - The Little Tichel Lady is awesome!!! I’ve ordered from her, never had a bad experience! I’m sure you’ll be happy with your purchase from her. I purchased some of her large lurex square tichels. Absolutely love them!!! They’re soft, sparkly (always a plus, IMHO… might as well be a Jewish Queen with all the glitz, right?? Hahahaha), and _very_ comfortable. Like you, I use the “poof” and velvet headband. Thought it’s a bit redundant to do both, I use both, because my hair is way too silky and nothing stays on me.
I think the recycled Sari scarf is so beautiful. I thought you looked like an angel with the larger headband on, so sweet! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week. Blessings to you and your family!
Love that you end explaining it's your choice. I don't cover for religious reasons BUT I am a very conservative Christian. Covering brings me joy; it's easy for me to imagine that is true for women of other orthodox/conservative communities. Oh, also, I thought to myself as I clicked this video "I already know lots of ways to wear a wrap"....I walked away with new ideas and insights 😄 Thankee!!!
I put you on pause, grabbed a long rectangular scarf from my closet and went into the bathroom to try it out. I do need to play around with this. Love it. Thank you!
You suit your tichel Chana. I love the green one and the stripe rectangle tucked in and twisted style with the hair band it is so pretty . 💚 🌈thank you for sharing. 🤓🇬🇧💐
I love this video thank you! I am not Jewish, but have been head "covering" with headbands for a while on and off. Just awesome to see the options because I have been wanting to try and cover more! Thank you
Perfect timing, Chana! I’m getting ready for the day and although I don’t cover my hair full-time, I always love seeing how other ladies tie their scarves. Have a lovely rest of your week and a wonderful shabbos :)
Wrapunzel has some lovely sari scarves. i have had to ban myself from visiting wrapunzel and other online scarf sites as i quickly aproaching 100 scarves as i love layering multiple scarves to make my headcovers.
A good thing to note, if you suffer from migraines or other types of headaches, just crossing them and tucking the ends instead of tying the knot helps with that!
Wow, thank you! I've watched a lot of scarf tying tutorials, but you explained it so well and I feel like I understand the rectangle style better! I always struggled with that one. The twisted rectangle style looks so lovely on you!
Very interesting, Chana! My favorite is the very last one. It looks beautiful on you/is also a very beautiful scarf .I have learned so much from your videos.
Loved the sari scarf. The colors are so beautiful. Thanks, for demonstrating these. It would be so helpful for cancer patients; my sister wore a baseball cap, which isn't necessarily all purpose. This would have been useful.
Chana, you are just such a wonderful advocate for women, and Jewish women and culture in particulare! Congragrulations and keep up the wonderful work. Which you really enjoy lol. I'm one, of I'm sure many, new viewers and I'm Catholic, not that that is important ...... we are women enjoying our lives!
I don’t typically cover my hair, , but I did go through breast cancer about 4 years ago. I struggled with wigs I hated and scarves I didn’t know how to tie! I wish I would have known about the volumizer, that would have been a game changer. Thank you for sharing, I just love your videos and a small glimpse into your life.
LOL... like you, I wear bandanas a lot, and agree they're great for the house, not so much for going out. I have a lot of silk scarves, which NEVER go out of style, that I can't wait to try.
I had to run many errands today before our big snowstorm later, and it was such a pleasure to get home and sit and listen to your soothing voice. I’m glad you featured the beautiful shimmery green scarf; my favorite! God Bless you and your family 🙏
Well, you've rescued my wrap game. I was making things way too complicated. But currently, I'm in a more vintage square scarf style. So, basically your green one, but smaller. But honestly, I think it was because I was just tired of re-wrapping. It's so interesting to see how simple it is. I usually only wrap and cover at home, so I can keep my hair loose. (You have 1000s of followers. I'm the weird Apostolic Pentecostal one who keeps her hair up as a gift to her future husband on our wedding night, as I'm divorced (my choice/conviction, not the norm in my church)) And now that I've met the future husband, he thinks it's awesome that I keep my hair up, and said he wishes he could see me in a scarf. He values the gift, and I think it's pretty cool to be able to tell you and G*d thank you for helping me discover, and encouraging, a level of modesty and connection to the Creator who can number the hairs on our heads that just *feels* right. Like you said, it's your choice.
I’m Apostolic Pentecostal as well and probably described as the weird lady that wears the head scarves 🤣. I’ve been covering/wrapping for over a year now. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. ❤️
@@amjz77 now that's extra encouraging. It's definitely something that I wish more women seemed open to. I wish I was bold enough to wear mine outside the house with my entire head covered, but a lot of times, I let the messy bun show if I'm going to wear a wrap to the store. But my conviction is to just keep my hair up in front of men, so I have some fun with them with a high bun. I imagine though, that over time, I'll probably be the lady with the scarves outside of more than just my block.
@@kaitlynwert6673 it took me some time to get used to as well. I started with the headbands and the Sarai singles and then transitioned to a full scarf at home only. After a while, I just went for it! It felt so right for me that I came to a place where I didn’t care what others thought about it. I got lots of looks and talked about, but it didn’t outweigh what I felt. 🙌🏻
@@amjz77 something about it just feels right. I was so excited by this video yesterday that I ended up figuring out how to do a double crown with a long rectangular scarf and almost fell asleep in it.
Great tutorial! I really like the one with the 2/3 wrap. I’ll have to look into the covering that you use underneath. I have found that the one I use slips off. Thank you and Shabbat Shalom.
Last night, I was looking for information about prayer shoals, and then I felt so blessed when I came across a very extensive explanation about why godly women should wear head covering. 😇
Yay so excited to see this video. Wrapunzel carries sari scarves and they are awesome. They also carry a lot square scarves. They also have a ton of different different types of volumizers and velvet headbands!
Wrapunzel has such beautiful scarves, and they have a wonderful selection of sari scarves too, which is my personal favorite because they are colorful and versatile!
Wrapunzel has sari scarves! That's where I get all of my scarves! I would like to find a place that sells snoods that don't look like berets! I also find using a volumizer in summer keeps my hair off my neck & out of my face & is actually cooler ... at least for me! Thanks for this video!
Great video, I cover my hair all the time because of my choosing and I love it also. Hair covering is now so popular that you can now find them everywhere Including Walmart and Target maybe not in great numbers but in winter they will have a small supply.
Thank you for this video Chana :) I have been covering for several months now, using a variety of tutorials and scarf resources...many that you have mentioned here. It never ceases to amaze me that I can still pick up delightful new ideas and resources from each person. Note to self: order more square scarves and sparkly headbands!! Re a previous JoF video...I received my new crock pot and am planning to make one of the 4 recipes you provided.....wearing a tichel of course!
So glad you got something out of this video!!! The sparkly headbands are so much fun and I’m so glad I’ve added them to my bin of head covering accessories:) And so much fun that you got a crock pot! Which recipe are you planning to make first?
The way you normally cover your hair brings back memories of watching my grandma get ready in the morning. Absolutely loved this! The more colorful the scarf the better in my opinion! The colors really bring out your eyes as well! :)
Happy week, Chana! Love that long sari scarf at the end; it is really pretty, and looks beautiful on you. Glad you seem to be feeling better! Have a wonderful shabbat and weekend, much love from Connecticut!
Good morning Chana. I really enjoyed your video. I have always wondered how you tie the scarf to keep it on. I hope you are starting to feel better from all of the morning sickness!! Have a wonderful and blessed Shabbat and I'll see you Monday
You are a good teacher & explain things simply. My favorites were the black with pink flowers scarf & the beaded elastic headband.. They would look great together.
