It’s a great pattern , up here in Montana we use it a lot . Gold , gold and silver , silver . Streamer fish it and works really good swinging it . Thanks
@@tylerdooley4783 I bet , great streamer river . Haven’t fished it in three years. May wander down this year and hit it . It’s not that far from Ennis . The problem is you go past Bitch Creek and the Teton on the way. Both are hard to pass up .
@@mikekuczynski1552 Ennis is one of those places when I drive through, I could call home. Thats the biggest issue with living within a 200 mi radius of the best trout rivers in the country. The Snake in the GTNP was great this year. If you are floating it, the channels have changed dramatically.
Tyler, I almost hate to say it but with the COVID-19 this year we pretty much had all the rivers to ourselves this year . Bad for the shops and guides but great for low traffic and great fishing. Don’t really like it when rivers change to much , makes it a little sketchy without local knowledge especially on the snake .
Thank you for giving Chuck credit for the pattern. Fun story the fly originally was called the Rolex till he got a cease and desist letter from Rolex. Krenik is the correct flash material. The MFC is really really close to the point Chuck would grab it from my shop if he ran out of Krenik and needed to finish an order but it is a bit softer then Krenik. If you want the correct stuff Easter Trophies Fly Fishing carries it along with Mossy Creek Fly Shop. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of losing the legend Chuck, I will say I miss him telling me everything I did wrong when I tied one of his flies, then telling me it looks pretty good though.
Got to give credit where credit is due! Thanks Jeff for the additional context. I might have to see if I can get my hands on some Krenik to try. I did hear the story about the Rolex, pretty funny.
Awesome! I like how you tie this! Easier than how I have been doing it. Funny... I tied a few mini kreelex on a size 12 hook this morning for when the crappie start getting active in a month or two where I live!
The thought of tying a fly sheerly outta flash doesn't sit well with me, but once I saw the end product, I see the potential....Still don't like it lol. Nothing personal. Love all this guys ties. Cheers Alvin👍
Alvin, you get my vote for best dressed fly fishing guy and best laugh! I love your no-nonsense ties! One of these days I'll visit Austin and give you and your dear wife a visit!
when a buddy ,who fished with Chuck many times a year, brought this fly back to Ga and he wore us out,we started tying them up.Trout crack in copper and gold or olive and silver.same colors catch, shoalies, big bream, stripers and trout in certain places here.Chuck's CK nymph old standard trout fly around here.
Just got my first tying kit, can you technically use any brand hook for tying up flies? Like some off the shelf mustad etc. or are there actual fly fishing specific hooks that are better to use? Love your vids, can’t wait to try the patterns!
Hey Alvin! Very new to fly tying, working off a pair of stats and a workshop vice until I find out if it’s right for me. I’m in Georgia with a ton of brown water in lakes and rivers so this flashy gold should definitely be noticeable. I appreciate all the content and the time you’re taking for the world! You keep rocking brother
So far I have watched a few of you Guide fly videos and you have a way of making it look super easy. I tried to tie when I was younger and could never get it. So now that I’m much older I shall try again. Enjoy watching your videos and thanks for the tips and being you.
