Dude, all you had to do was say remove your SD card from the Osmo put it in your computer and copy the files across and yet you waffled on all this time

Thanks! You forgot another way - Using the DJI Mimo app over Wi-Fi to get the files into your phone. In my case, I am only shooting a few broll videos, not a lot of vlogging, so I prefer anything that doesn't involve physically removing the micro sd card. So I use either direct USB cable or the MIMO app. Finer point I learned a long time ago with my mirrorless camera. Buy only SD or microSD cards to hold one shooting session (a few hours, a day, etc.). The allure of a big card holding tons of footage from a whole trip or several days of shooting is quickly cursed when, not if, sooner or later, you have a glitch or bad card and lose all that footage all at once. I also have seen software glitches in cameras so conservatively use a "shoot, transfer, reformat" workflow and don't let footage pile up. Bonus tip - always format memory cards in the camera to erase them. Don't use the general format command in your computer. It "should" work, but can introduce strange errors that only show up later at the worse times. Thanks for your videos - really like the shooting examples and visual advice, not just the tech stuff. I'll share one tech thing I am exploring right now - found on that 'express' chinese website tiny charging base for the pocket 3. Like the DJI non-battery handle, but super thin and simply has a 1/4" x 20 tripod/accessory screw hole on the bottom and routes the USB-C port out the side. It sells for only $8. Just ordered a bunch of them. Idea is to use them as "quick release plates" for my Pocket three just like using ARCA Swiss plates for bigger stuff. Stick them on selfie sticks/monopods, table-top mini tripod, etc. and change setups just by using the dual clips on the Osmo and not having to constantly screw-unscrew tripod screws or use those plastic wrap-around collar things. Amazon has them for $22, each if you don't want to wait a few weeks for shipping.

Thank you for the compliment and the bonus tips 😊. I try to make my videos more visual rather than just reading off tech specs. I find it to be more engaging and fun to make. And my audience seems to enjoy it more. I didn’t forget about the DJI Mimo app. I couldn’t get it to work for me when it came time to moving the files over to my phone. That or I just wasn’t patient enough haha. I found it quicker to use the usb cable. So I stuck with that. I didn’t want to add that in the video if I couldn’t get it to work. I learned to format the cards on camera earlier as well. I’m pretty sure that saved me a lot of grief with my SD cards. And nice find with the charging base! That seems like it would come in handy a lot.

Dang, I’m sorry to hear that about your footage. But that’s one of the reasons why I made this video. To help make the whole process of dealing the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 easier for beginners. Glad that you found it helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions about the OP3. I’m no expert but I’ll help where I can. Thank you for the compliment as well! 🙏🏾😊

I would recommend never using a SD Card bigger than the maximum recording time of the battery. I would suggest 8 x 64GB cards instead of 1 x 512GB

great video! Will the 4k files from the osmo be transferred with the same quality to the ipad? I only use the iPad with editing and I was wondering if it would be good to have an Osmo and edit on the iPad
@_andy_lou

From what I can tell the OP3 4K files transfer over just fine and with the same quality on iPad. Just follow the steps I mentioned when copying the files to your phone and you should be good to go! 😊

Do you ever edit in iMovie. I'm having trouble and wondering if it's a formatting issue. I've edited an entire 45 minute vlog and now I can't export it.
@_andy_lou
@_andy_lou 23 дня назад
Aww man that sucks. I haven't edited in iMovie for a while now. But it could be a number of things from your filename of the exporting file, an outdated version of iMovie, or it could be that you don't have enough storage space on your device. Those are a couple of things I would check first and then go from there.

Bto another banging vid, the .LRF files do you delete those files by any chance because not sure why dji creates those lrf files?
@_andy_lou
@_andy_lou 2 месяца назад
@@asianboss6355 that’s a good question. Earlier on I would delete them but recently started to keep them and just move them to their own separate folder. But I recently found out that they are basically low resolution files or copies of your MP4 files. These are the files you see as playback on the OP3 or the DJI Mimo app. So technically once you move your footage to an SSD or laptop. You no longer need them. Unless you want to use them as proxies for editing. I don’t use them for that so I’ll probably start deleting them again. Thank you for the compliment! 😊
@Brokiemind

Question why when you have the files open on your computer is there MP4 files the video files then also has Dwav files saved also
@_andy_lou
@_andy_lou 2 месяца назад
@@Brokiemind I think the files you’re referring to are the MP4 files and the LRF files. Those two files are automatically created for every clip you record on the OP3 (Osmo Pocket 3). The LRF I believe is a low resolution version that’s plays back on the OP3 and the MP4 is the high resolution version that you use for your edits. Hopefully that answers your question?

Brand New to the Pocket "Tres" Game and one of your new subscribers; thanks for the informative video! Would you consider doing a Pocket 3 AND Mirror-less Camera combo, from a merged editing prospective? I've seen a few videos with a Pocket 3 attached to another camera with a cage, but not much actual split screen footage. Specifically, what would be a practical or professional application of this type of camera set-up?

I’ve been editing on a MacBook Pro since 2020. So I don’t know much about Windows laptops. But for Mac I would suggest at least an M1 MacBook Pro with at least 32GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.
