Some things are just genetic. I always wear sunscreen around my eye area and use retinol regularly yet my veins are visible. I mostly apply whatever serum I use to my undereye area as well such as vitamin C, peptides, hyaluronic acid, niaciminade, arbutin, ginseng. It just doesn't make any difference. I have the same purple under-eye region that I had since my elementary school days. Yes as early as that I had it. If it is hereditary nothing will change.
Maybe if you could afford try invasive procedures like PRP treatments or lasers after consulting a dermatologist. I think these work wonders with genetic dark circles.
I had negligible amount of dark circles in school when i was 15, i never used any makeup, not even a moisturizer (regularly) or sunscreen till 15, Now it's been 9 years I am dealing with extreme dark circles. I ignored it for 9 long years, kept sleeping late, took too much stress. I got it after an age and made them worse overtime. Now i can't go out without a concealer on, So do you think mine can be hereditary dark circles too?
@@shailstia9137 hereditary or genetic meaning that you inherit the characters from your family members. Here it looks like you have acquired it by external factors. Either way it's long standing and stubborn dark circles so yess you can consult a dermatologist for the procedures that suits best for your under eye skin :)(ps: I'm just a medical student I really can't provide you with more info than this. only a qualified esthetician or dermatologist can provide you the perfect solution)
@@strawberrycherrybaby I'm sorry I never said having dark circle is abnormal but when a person becomes more conscious and less confident with it then I suppose consulting a professional will be a good idea. Please be kind to those who're trying to help others a bit they can. Ofcourse they don't inject sh*t but your own plasma with all collagen promoting stuffs in it :)
We are so obsessed with our 'imperfections'. I remember I tried so hard to cover my dark circles. They are dark but its not only the darkness its the bone structure that makes them hollow. I didnt know how to conceal, then when I learned to conceal my under eye area correctly by putting a peach concealer and another of my skin tone I realised my face changed a lot and not in a good way. My eyes looked very different bc it was not only darkness but the hollowness and with concealer it looked weird. I realised my dark circles add dimenson to my face and as weird as it may sound I like the way they suit my face. Im not against makeup, I love its potencial to transform and be creative and of course if dark circles are a problem for you treat them. But I just hate the way people dont understand that there are some genetic feautes that are not necessarly flaws.

Every time I talk to my grandma she makes me feel bad about my weight or how I look in general. Today she mentioned that I looked very tired. Literally made me want to cry and now obsess with the fact that I look like crap and need to find a way to fix it. Family is so hurtful sometimes.

But you're beautiful the way you are, and honestly it might sound cliche but I can see beauty in literally everyone like every creature of God is so pretty and attractive in some way but when I look in the mirror all I see are my flaws. But others don't see us like that, it's just our insecurities that have developed over time mostly because of some people (only a few) who only see flaws in others.
@@canm7157 that is completely inaccurate. there are a lot of claims like that on social media, but theyre all false. makeup and/or skincare should not hurt, sting, burn, etc. if it does, you’re using it wrong or the product does not work for you.
@@CT1010101 even though I did my research I was using my new %1.00 retinol under my eyes too, in about 3 days my eyes were red and crusty, I stopped immediately I used a gentle moisturizer instead, so this comment scared me 💀
There are also retinols that are formulated for the eyes or formulated to be safe around the eyes. The one I personally recommend is the Some by Mi Retinol Eye Cream, I use it around my face and honestly, it's been going well.
Yup, I was diagnosed with dry eyes and my dermatologist forbid me to use any retinol on my face as it can migrate to the eyes.. So i'm sticking to acids like glycolic acid for exfoliation.
I'm 40 and have always used plain mashed avocado on my face and under eyes , a tip from my mum as she has always done did. I have no wrinkles, dark circles or eye bags. my mum looks much younger than her 66 age too. And of course good sleep and not smoking helps too
This is interesting. Do you use a mashed avocado under your eyes daily? I suffer from purple-ish colour dark circles and the vein under my eye is always dilated (bumpy) in the centre. No idea why!?
The only thing that ever helped me personally, was when I was consistent with drinking lots of water and regular face moisturising. It's hard to for me to be consistent nowadays because the stresses of life and timetable
That's bs. I'm 55, drink tons of water every single day, and have religiously moisturized since I was 12. My dark circles are not hereditary either, as my primary sleeping side is far darker. 🌞

Used teabags put in the fridge and use on eyes, sounds odd but does work, frozen or refrigerated eye packs help, I use moisturiser, retinol has done nothing for my darkness I don’t get puffy ness tho, I’ve found vitamin c helps with the darkness
Try to figure out which type of undereye circles you have. If you pinch your under eye and the circles fade, use vitamin c, if it doesnt fade use retinol
@@_s.4 Im not sure about retinol, it has so many disadventages im thinking about not useing it anymore but if i would say the beauty of joseon - revive eye serum, for vitamin c i can recommend you the JUMISO vitamin C or the skin&lab vitamin C serum.
@samlab no problem. It is in so many eye products that I want to try but I have found a few patches and creams that don’t have it. I didn’t know it had a rebound effect so its not worth it to me!

Any tips on retinol and the areas around your eyes and waxing? I started on retinol but got a wax and my skin tore off. I should have done more research but I’m terrified to touch the stuff again.
Same happened with me, now if I want to wax I stop using retinol for at least a week and keep my skin moisturized and then wax. Doing this it didn't peel of my skin anymore
@@alien2953 thanks! Definitely will try that. I stopped using it for a month or so after and went for a second wax and my skin still tore. Maybe I should go longer periods of time because of my sensitive skin
@@kaylenecamacho yeah sensitive skin needs more time to heal as mine is normal so one week is enough for me (sometimes I do almost 2 weeks). As yours is sensitive you can definitely give it more time and then wax and you'll see that it won't peel. Make sure that you skin is not peeling or dry before waxing and you'll never face the same problem.
It's not advised to wax while using Ret/Tret. Try threading, plucking, shaving. Obviously, it's not the same, but it causes less damage to the skin. Which is better in the long run. If you have damaged skin, try LRP Cicaplast.

I realise you may have more education than me but, i'm in my late 40's without a single wrinkle around or near my eyes and i faithfully use an eye cream. I actually think that everyone is individualised in what they need or what workes for them.
You’re not supposed to use retinol during the day - It’s for nighttime only; When you apply retinol to your skin, your skin becomes sensitive, and exposing retinol to the sun is a big no-no. In other words, your facial skin is already sensitive when it’s exposed to the sun, but imagine it being twice as sensitive if you wear retinol in the sun
Constantly dark circles under eyes with a young person - this usually means damaged gut Flora/problems with gut/heavy metals in organism -- which I advise to solve instead of using anti aging creams. People who struggle with their skin, please stop listening to people like this. This is a young, beautiful woman who is 'specialised in skincare' = she has been reading about it in internet for a while. If she was a specialist she would introduce herself as such. Her skin is beautiful cause she is young and she found good maintanace products for herself. Please consult a professional if you have issues, stop bouncing between the ordinary and CeraVe just because 25 on yt told you to
Or you could use a black teabag for caffeine and not have to buy another serum just cool them from your morning tea and stick them on for 10’minutes whilst you meditate job done

She did…sunscreen around the eyes, caffeine, retinol are what transformed her skin. And she even said if you’re going to buy an eye cream look for retinol, vit c and peptides
Stop using it, moisturize and use spf. And why on earth would you use retinol during the day if it says everywhere that that is the LAST things you should do with it? Don't use ever again anything without knowing what it is, what is does and without reading instructions.
Hi im a young teen and have bad dark circles around both my eyes. I know using retinol on my young skin won’t help me, so if I use a retinol eye cream at such a young age, will it help or not? :)
@@luciacastillo1420 glad you asked. They are a lot better, not gone completely but way better. I have been using tretinoin for years so I have not sensitivity to it, so be careful if you don’t already use it. Having said that I have incorporated other stuff that I really think is helping. The Ordinary caffeine serum morning and night and Herbal Dynamics Vit K eye contour cream morning and night. Give it time! Nothing happens over night. Took about three months for mine to look a little better. Hope this helps you. I know the struggle. I stopped using concealer now and only have to apply a little Sigma Duo corrector over the very light discoloration and top it with a tiny amount of Charlotte Tilbury flawless powder
For that budget, you can get all the listed items above, which is basically the bare minimum. But if you really just want to start with one, I suggest this order: sunscreen, cleanser, moisturizer, whatever you need (retinol, etc). Nowadays, things are a lot easier so you can actually get sunscreen with ceramides or cleanser with SA or moisturizer with SA, meaning you won't need the fourth item if you already have it in the basic three.
…………I thought you weren’t supposed to use retinol around the eyes? When I accidentally do, my dark circles get SO much worse and my under eyes look red and burn and inflamed.
then yours is purely genetics. I'm assuming you are lightskin. Lightskin is more transluscent and thin (unless you're korean, for example) and it just shows veins more because of contrast too. Or in a terrible case could be malnutrition. Nothing you can do about it with skincare.
