My advice is to violently shake the plush after drying it the first time. I did that and it got completely soaked again so I had to blow dry it a second time. It just gets as much water out as possible
Just bought my niece the largest cream colored bunny that they make, and then I started worrying about how to clean it without damaging it. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this! My son's Drake the Dragon is getting a little gross but I was nervous when I saw the tag said surface clean only. This makes me feel better about washing it tonight and I will use the hair dryer!
For your tiger, I suggest trying a slicker/wire/teasel brush to gently brush his fur, if you have not tried this already. They are called various things in various places, but they're basically a pet brush with the wire bristles. I use these brushes on ALL my various synthetic plushies, and I always get really soft results. If you are concerned with ruining the plushie, test a small area in an unseen place on the plushie (behind the ear, tail, leg, etc.).
@@chongyibears isn't it amazing how much we can transform a plushie with those brushes??? I first used one on an old Gund Winnie the Pooh per advice of a teddy bear restorer friend of mine. The results were amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this! My childhood teddy is the Jellycat Dutch Bashful Bunny and he’s been looking a bit rough since he’s now around 8 years old. I had no clue how to clean him but after watching this I gave him a hand wash (I don’t have access of a washing machine) with some soap and dried him just how you did with a hairdryer and I also gave him a quick brush too! He’s looking great now, definitely not brand new looking but he’s a lot softer and his hairs got a lot more volume now as well! Thank you for posting this video and helping get my teddy back to good looks!❤️
I just washed huggady dog (Odie) laying down woody bear (Ember) and large smudge elephant (Meena) in the washing machine and then I used an industrial sized blow dryer meant for blow drying pets. It has a warm setting that never got super hot (so no chance of burning them) and the air is so powerful I can feel it on the other side of the plush! My big woody bear came out great, nice and soft and most importantly, not stinky anymore.
Thank you for making this. My favorite bat jellycat I sleep with every night has lost its fluffy softness and I didn't want to make it worse my trying to wash/dry it in a dryer.
Have you washed medium/large Sacha snow tiger, or similar animals? I was concerned about the stuffing drying, since she is bigger. Thanks for the video!
I normally use hair drying first to make sure the outside fur dry and fluffy, and let it stay there for couple days, our weather here is very dry, things dries out pretty fast. You can leave it under sunshine for awhile I guess.
I put my large Harry Panda in the washing machine once and I do not recommend... it made all the stuffing inside him clump together and the bean pouch in his bum became all twisted. I really regretted putting him in the machine and I had to undo some of his stitches to refluff all of his stuffing and detangle the bean pouch and sew him back together.
I am sorry to hear that. It didn’t happen to me before. Yes I think it’s better be careful when we decide to wash them. Better wash by hands. I am lazy so I still wash them in the machine.
This is such a great video! I sleep with my Perry the polar bear laying jellycat, but I’ve only had him for a week. Do your jellycats hair texture change over time?
I love perry polar bears! Yes their fur change over time for sure. But if you wash and blow them dry carefully will definitely help their soft fur last longer. Unfortunately their fur still change overtime, but it also shows how much love it received from you, not necessarily a bad thing.
The washing machine does spin most of the water out, after I use hair dryer, the inside is already about 90% dry, so just play with it or put it somewhere for a day to air dry. After I use hair dryer to dry all the fur, it’s dry enough for me to give it to my kid to sleep with.
I found the little tiger at a thrift store a few days ago. I looked him up on eBay and the other ones have a long tail thick all the way to the end. Mine has a pointed tail but doesn't look like fur loss. I'm going to machine wash using your method, hoping to get more fluff in his tail 😃
Unfortunately I don’t think there is any way to help if the animal is already 13 years. I have a little dog which is also more than 13 years old, he looks bad, but I love him, he is a piece of history to me.
Get yourself a 3pc wire brush set that has 1 nylon (for long 'hair like' fur), 1 brass (great for all fur, my fave), and 1 steel (the hardest, best for short fur). Just brush gently in small sections and it'll smooth out the fur and fluff it back out. This is used by toy restoration people. It gets it back to its best shape.
@@chongyibears oic. just so scared if any unrecoverable damage happened.. they are all my sleep buddies surviving me from numerous sleepless depressing days and nights i shouldve bathed them more often.....
I think it also work for webkinz too. But if the fur is too long, you may need to brush it. Some long fur may tangle anyways because of their nature. And don’t put them in cloth dryer too.
After the drying cycle of wash machine, and then use hair dryer to blow all the outside fur dry. The plush should be 95% dry, because the inner stuffing of the toy are very easy and quickly to be dried. Just need to leave it for couple days, or play with it directly, I’ve never have any problem with this method, and my baby always hold them after I wash and dry them.
I have a jellycat bunny that I have loved my whole life, it’s so old and I have no idea what mine is called.I did some searching and found some other bunnies that look like mine on eBay, I think mine might be a Junglie Bunglie bunny from 2008. I have been trying to find ways to restore my bunny’s fur to its original softness, and I just found out that my jelly cat had curly fur back in the day! Do you know any way that I would be able to restore my bunny to its original curly fluffiness?
Hi, I am sorry, I think unfortunately it’s kinda impossible to restore it to the original condition. I have a dog which I loved for almost 20 years, it’s fur looks really bad now. This dog means a lot to me, just like the bunny you have. I think it doesn’t matter if you cannot restore the fur, the old fur actually tells the history and story for you two, and it shows how much you love this bunny, it means a lot of hugs and kisses, it sometimes more valuable than the new soft and fluffy toys.
