When do you decide that you are sub-x? Is it when you get an official ao5 in a competition? or when you get an ao100 at home, and generally feel like you are sub-x?
It's when you almost never get a solve over sub x. Like if you are sub 15 than you will almost never get a solve or average over that. If that's not the case you probably are not sub 15. And ao100 in my opinion is not big or reliable enough to determine if you are subx.
Also look for an effortless cube , Yes I know that preference over optimal but I don't think hurting your thumb nail and hand will feel like fun, decelope a soft turning style (not really necessary but if you have a fast effortless cube go for it) Also when your hand hurts the thumb nail side next to the index finger just stop and let it rest
i got to sub 15 in around 3 months but after solving so much i slowed down a lot and just solved occasionally and then once school ended i took a break to practice other events to get them to an ok point but im now getting back into 3x3 and practicing look ahead to hopefully drop quite a bit of time
Keep practicing! Finish full OLL, make sure your PLL algs and finger tricks are good, cross on bottom, try double flicking as much as you can whenever doing double moves, and keep your f2l look ahead and efficiency up.
