I clicked on this video (being the language nerd that I am) not noticing the view count, but I am honestly so surprised at how little views it has! This video is OUTSTANDING!! I am sending this now to all of my friends. You perfectly explained what I have been trying to tell all my friends for ages. Best YT video I've watched in a long time. Wish I could like this video more than once. Truly outstanding, Standing ovation 👏👏

I couldn't agree with you more! I have been studying French, Korean and Japanese for almost a decade now (I'm a native English speaker) and I have made slow progress through grammar and vocab, about 2 years ago I decided to take the approach you're talking about here and have made more progress in these languages in a single year than the last 10 years. Simply LISTENING, READING and TALKING with people is really the only way to learn a language to fluency as far as I have seen. Grammar can help a lot in the beginning, and can even fast track your learning, but can become a crutch in the intermediate level if you're not careful.

Thanks for sharing! I feel like I sometimes disregard grammar too much, so I'll try that out

thanks, man it's true I have been listening to the past few months the American accent and it really improves how I speak and how I connect words.

I find that using songs like you said is kind of helpful with learning a language. More specifically, watching those RU-vid videos where it has the lyrics in the original language, the romanized lyrics, and the translation of the lyrics.

Do u feel like your voice change when you speak English like you speak with lower voice compared to what was your “1st” language (I’m assuming it’s Chinese) ? Because I feel like American tends to have a warm and rich voice like yours, whereas non natives their voice is so high, thin and lack of resonance

For sure, it also depends on what accent you learn as well. (When I speak japanese, my voice tends to go higher
