It's been a minute! I give a brief life update and talk about my book - and how I've been writing it in emacs. The various tools and shortcuts I used to write my book.
Emacs purist here. No need to apologize. You are doing all the right things to get productive and that's what really matters. Glad you found the best way for you to leverage all the Emacs goodness right away! All the best! I'm a fan already and rooting (sp?) for you!
It is game changing when each sentence has to stand on its own - your tone gets more active and you vary sentence length much more often. Highly recommend!
I may one day in the future go and re-write my config in vanilla emacs, but doom does make it so easy! I don't use that many packages though, on my installation I have over 440 that are loaded at startup.
The thing is I write stuff like this in roam. I write too but i have entries in my roam directory and tag it for classification. I frequently write notes on my writing to imrprove as I go. I need my notes to be in my roam dir so I put my writing stuff there too.
Do you use org roam to keep notes on characters, places, world building, plot points etc..? I want to write a fiction novel, and am looking for functionality similar to scrivener.
I have never written fiction, but I don't see why you couldn't use it to like between characters and their relationships, locations, etc. Emacs can be really whatever you want to make it. www.masteringemacs.org/article/how-to-write-a-book-in-emacs is a decent resource.
