In world news and current events today, members of the Huni Kuin, one of the Amazon tribes of indigenous people living in the Amazon forest, spoke to NowThis News about the Amazon fire and how it is affecting their home. The Amazon wildfires having been raging in the Brazil rainforest for weeks as the country and world look to President Jair Bolsonaro for more action. Many indigenous people live in the Amazon forest currently threatened by the Amazon forest fire. Climate change and global warming are said to be contributing to the rainforest fire.

@@str2010 the only problem that exists is goverment, non of these people care about climate change otherwise they would be in favor of nuclear energy but they don't care so clearly all this global warming has a corrupt elitist goal in mind that is unrelated to actual science and environmental concerns. When you have a "swedish proffesor' claim the solution to climate change is cannibalism you know these are just immoral sadists trying to find new ways to justify their insanity.

A lot of the Athabascan say it is all ready too late up here in Pacific Northwest Alaska, Provinces, etc Our Mother the Earth is retreating from Turtle Island. She cannot withstand the man made ignorance of stewardship that has taken over since the worship of modern industry to exploit nature and not work with Her. Nuclear power was never an answer either. Occidental man has lost contact with the divine. Here in the Americas the Mercantile Colonialism has developed into a death nell, or Swan Song of late capitalism. Republics only bring to fruition science that begots more violence, ignorance, and death for the greedy self indulgent 'legends' in their own mind.

Up to 91% of Amazonian deforestation is due to animal agriculture. So majority of the burning of their forest is a result of our dietary demands. They clear these forests to make room for farming animals or growing animal feed (soy, corn, wheat) for export, and we pay these corporations to exploit these lands. (FYI, 70% of cancer treatment drugs are derived from the Amazon). Aside from meat being dangerous due to excess CO2 & methane, it's also the highest in consumption of land, water, and fuel. Your dollar is a vote for the kind of world you wish to live in. Go vegan.

It angers me that so many believe trump and defend the oligarchs, even more so that they have a narrow-minded and shrewd understanding of conservationism. Who tf said we should abandon cars entirely? Nobody. While they do produce co2, all we could do is just use it less or use public transport. Also there are other things we could do, such as NOT BURNING RAINFORESTS
