What saddens me about the "who gets to watch football" conversation is that I'm from South Africa and I can watch ALL the football. I LOVE football, and I get to watch the: World Cup, Club World Cup, Champions League (every game), FA Cup (from Round 2), Charity Shield, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, German Super Cup, top Championship games, Europa League, Conference League, Nations League, and friendly highlights - and that's just football - all for £40 per month (mind you, I get to watch Bake Off with that too)

If there is a "United Way", I think you have to look at this 87 year unbroken record of matches with an Academy player in the squad (dating not coincidentally from 1937, the year that MUJACS was set up) and, even more importantly, the fact that the club only discovered this record accidentally a few years ago. But imagine if we'd found out about the record in the 1970s. Martin Edwards might have told Ron Atkinson about this proud club record and then you'd have to wonder how many times Ron, Fergie, Moyes, Mourinho, etc completed a matchday team sheet and then had to change it when they realised that they'd forgotten to include an Academy graduate. They'd have been scared of being flayed alive if they'd been the one to end the unbroken record. So we know the record didn't happen artificially. It's pretty clear that an unbroken run of 4,000+ matches can't have happened by coincidence (unless it was a lot of coincidences). So there must be something about the core mindset or ethos of the club which caused it to happen naturally. And, if the club did it for us instead of vice versa, that sounds like something you can genuinely call a "United way".

Day 1 who starts is an interesting question. Yoro could start if he does well in preseason and then Harry Maguire probably steps in to give him a breather when he gets his 'welcome to the PL moment' I could also see Yoro coming off the bench if we need to chase a game and rely on him to cover. Exciting times ahead!

Definitely agree about younger, taller and scrappier. United doesn't have many physical scrappy players that can also cover a lot of ground. Hopefully a good new DM will help with that a lot and Zirkzee and Yoro sure do offer more physicality

Carl brought up a point about Zirkzee being almost "too much" of a facilitator and I wonder if Kane suffers from this to a clearly lesser extent. Clearly Kane gets his goals, but in a final, when he might not be getting those box touches as easy he decides to facilitate too much and needs of fading from the game.

The united way is to have a team with grit, tenacity, and a attack centric desire. It's not about a style of play. We expect to be adaptable. It's about how the team displays a character of never say die even if a tragedy wipes out the team. We identify with them because they represents us.

if people are saying we cant sign any more CBs because we will have a good player on the bench, ignore that person. our entire bench should be good players. when we talk about what the new players are going to bring. I always feel a little sceptical. We heard all last summer how a ball progressing goalkeeper would help us play out from the back and change the way we keep the ball etc and we saw NONE of that. Onana was just a shot stopper in the shadow of one of the greatest shot stoppers of all time.
