I started taking the pill at a young age. It did change my life, until I decided to get off of it for a try. (P.s.: I am a dancer) The hunger hit way too hard each day. Binging was rampant. Regardless of how good my nutrition was, my body would never reach low enough where jumps were as easy as when I was off of the pill. This was until I started taking caffeine but still, not the same effects as vyvanse but 1/3rd of the way it was. I think the story would have been different if I had discovered. Tyrosine, PEA, Cbd oil, taurine, Green tea extract. (Pre workouts like zipfizz) These get the job done 1/2 like the pill. Sometimes later in the day better than vyvanse. During this time however, I did learn much better ways to listen and be productive. Meditation through my dancing rather than “bad thoughts” life is a creative process and critiques are ok. I really love dancing and at the moment I have returned to taking medication since I am now in a professional dance setting where it’s best to be low body fat to decrease risk of injury and laser focused to get the job done. Also, ballet is usually a short career due to body load. We will see how my med will affect it. I am curious as to how my adhd diagnosis for Germany will go. Need to see a psychiatrist

Got diagnosed this year, age 42 and started my medication in June. The first week with the appropriate medication is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. I also felt I was reborn on that week. Everything was smooth and felt extraordinary. It's like being in flow state all day long. Now that I'm 3 months in, I don't feel the medication at all, it became transparent. But I know that if I skip some days during the week-end, or if I'm trying to pack a luggage way past bed time (i.e when medication has run off), I'm all over the place once again.

Yes! It's like a new level of of life so to speak. You forget you're on it, until you're not, but even if you don't feel the meds, it's usually always better with them than without. Really happy you're going good and taking care of yourself!
@Rollwithit699

So you noticed a big difference right away? I was diagnosed in June at age 68 with Asperger's and ADHD. The first script was Ritalin LA 10 mg and I really didn't notice much of a difference at all...may have had a day or two with slightly better focus. I'm hoping they increase the strength a bit (still 10 mg now) so I can be more focused, less scattered. May I ask the strength they started you on?
@chrisw3327
@chrisw3327 Год назад
@@Rollwithit699 For me, diagnosed at 48 and just started on Elvanse at 30mg for week 1, then 40 mg for weeks 2 and 3, before I will see my psychiatrist again to decide whether to go up, down or stay the same. Today is my first day on 40 mg and it hasn't kicked in fully yet. I found that 30 mg worked very well the first few days but then less so the last few - although, due to our dog having had minor surgery, he disturbed my usual sleep pattern and I had less time available for self-care (exercise, hobbies and not even time to shave/shower one day). I really think that sleep and self-care are essential factors in my response to Elvanse, as the situation was much better even on 30mg when I had more time yesterday. In case it is any use, the info leaflet I received with Elvanse (in the UK at least) states, "The recommended dose at the start of treatment is 30mg, but your doctor may decide to start you on 20mg. Later on your doctor may increase the dose. The maximum daily dose is 70mg." I should also mention that I am still taking Venlafaxine 150mg prolonged release also (had been prescribed this previously for depression), so this may make my case different too. I believe that the long-term plan will be for me to try to gradually stop Venlafaxine, as the depression may have been related to my undiagnosed, untreated ADHD. Good luck with finding your optimal medication balance!

The highlight, though, was being able to stop my mind from having a million conversations that I knew I would never have with anyone. Thank you. I recently got my first prescription and I have been actually nervous to start. I was worried about stupid things like what if after so long being used to this the change is scary. Knowing the side effects to not worry about genuinely helps. I should have started two days ago, yes I kept making excuses to myself and letting myself down, partially I also wanted to make sure I understood what I should look out for to be concerned about. Idk, I'm blowing it out of proportion, I shouldn't be worried about something changing who I am that will honestly help me function.

@@Icipher4 my resting BPM is around 60 as well and for a few minutes it went to 100. After talking with my doctor my anxiety was playing a factor as well. That only happened the first day. I have been on it now for almost 3 weeks and I’m much calmer than I have ever been and my heart rate is back to normal. It was back to normal within a couple hours of me taking it the first day. If you feel afraid, or have anxiety or experience higher heart rate make sure to talk to your doctor, or any health care professional you trust. Try some breathing exercises and I am confident you will be ok. If it helps you be less afraid too you can tell someone you trust you will start a new medication and you might need a ride somewhere or something. These are the things that helps me calm my anxiety, so try to see the things that helps yours and use them the day you start, or for the first well until you are settled with the medication. Perfect explanation of how vyvanse worked for me except it took sometimes three hours to feel anything and would last up to 16 hours. I have been on 70mg now for six months and I am considering changing. It lasts too long and sleep deprivation is very difficult. In saying this I have been diagnosed with ADHD and Complex PTSD so it’s difficult to differentiate between what symptoms are for which diagnosis even though I have been living with childhood trauma anxiety majority of my life. I feel that getting an official diagnosis for anything is so important. Proper testing methods or gold standard testing in addition to regular testing like the DIVA is paramount when trying to get help for your symptoms. I know many self diagnosed people that I know are struggling because they may not have ADHD but who am I to judge. I just feel like getting a test to be a diabetic should apply in the same way as being properly tested for especially when putting people on stimulants. Thank you for your video 😊

For me the first time was like swimming under water with my eyes open. You know, that fuzzy vision. Then as you come up out of the water..... HD! Thats how it feels! Your mind has been sqeegeed clear! Its slso like.... inside your head can you imagine that.... your a teacher, and the kids in the classroom are going crazy, swinging from the cieling, indeed, running around on the cieling, throwing shit around at each other and yelling. Then, you take a dose of vyvanse..... within about 15 minutes everybody eventually sits down, is quite, organizes themselves and is listening to you intently. Without it, my mind was chaotic and know matter how hard I tried....I could not get my thoughts under control enough to truly concentrate and absorb reading or lectures. Maybe there were days that I get lucky. I'd had enough protein or something.... I do know. From my point of view, just mine, only me..... pharmaceutical companies sometimes, just sometimes get a bad rap.

As long as you're not consuming foods that are high in vitamin c, taking Vyvanse or Adderall without food is no more effective than taking either with food. You can consume foods rich in vitamin c one-to-two hours after you take your medication.
@kabouterplop7196

Vitamin c flushes it faster out but prevents potential neurotoxicity at higher dosages due to oxidation. Oxidation of the dopamine and nor-epinephrine can make your rebound way worse and can give you psychotic symptoms, of sleep and food are also neglected.

I'm on my second day of vyvanse, 30mg. I feel like not too much is happening. Not having many negatives aside from a slight headache and tiredness when it wears off and not being as hungry. The rush of energy when it hits it really helpful though and I use the first hour when it hits to do housework. I know that I'm going to need a heavy dose so the plan for me is to increase it each month depending on how I'm feeling. I'm excited for this journey.
@juliachild9377
@juliachild9377 Год назад
It's important to pay careful attention to how you're thinking about the medication's efficacy, especially in the beginning. It may turn out that you do need a higher-than-average dosage, but you don't actually know that, not at day two. Try to not be so quick to assume what you're going to need or not need. If you assume you're going to need the maximum dosage before you've even started treatment, you're making it more likely that you'll request increases when you don't actually need them. Do your best to avoid hyper focusing on the numbers and focus on symptom relief because you will inevitably develop some degree of tolerance regardless of dosage. Also, it's vital to recognize that the rewarding side effects are not directly proportional to symptom relief. Each time you think you need a dosage increase, ask yourself if you feel that way because your current dosage is genuinely not enough or if you're chasing those rewarding side effects. Increasing your dosage beyond what's maximally effective for you will actually worsen symptoms and you'll be more likely to develop dependence and start abusing the medication. Best of luck.

Ok so I have AuDHD (Autism - more specifically Asperger’s - and ADHD) and I love Elvanse. It is quite literally a revelation for me, and I love science for discovering the power of attaching an amino acid to speed 😅 I feel SO much more relaxed, I can hold appropriate eye contact, I get homework done instantly, I do my chores without hesitation. The best thing is, I can finally just do the things that I really want to do. My Autism brain always wants me to focus on complicated science stuff (ever since I was 1, and it is also my job kinda), but ADHD then comes in and deems another thing (going to the gym - fortunately I don’t need motivation for that - or worse, watching RU-vid) to be more important and procrastinates. Since AuDHD kind of balances the respective other disorder, the symptoms are quite interesting. I am often antisocial, awkward, don’t listen very well, then switch moods and want to fixate only on science and I also harass people with very long text messages.. But Elvanse literally solved all that. I love this. I finally feel some peace.

Vyvanse for adults is most of the time just an illusion. It works the same way as amphetamines and even coke. Almost everyone feels good on those stimulants. They give you a boost of energy and you usually want to make the most out of it. It's so fun! You forget your struggles for a while and you feel you're more focused. I see a bunch of false/self diagnosis of ADHD in people who are in fact simply lost and don't know themselves very well to make the most out of their lives and therefore feel happiness. Vyvanse and other amphetamines make you impulsive, angry quicker and it can easily mess up good relationships around you.

My Adderall, which I've been on for about 5 year, went on backorder last week, so right now I'm remembering what it was like before I started taking it. It's a miracle of God that I managed to get a college degree. So it's good to see other people are having a similar experience but eventually feel something after increasing the dose. I'll keep on taking for the next weeks until my next appointment and then talk to my doctor what's the best course of action. How have you been since then? I got my half dose yesterday after I got my prescription, I did drive on the motorway at night without being sensory overloaded by the lights and other cars, I normally hate driving on the motorway in the dark, as it is a sensory nightmare but it isn't with ADHD meds. Hey Ross! I recently upped my dosage just this week. There's a lot of things that feel different about it and have changed since the beginning, so I'm going to film a video about it this week. I will include your question, and hopefully it helps! Thank you for the support!

HI! i worked my way up to 70mL of vyvanse when I was 12. it worked, but lost its efficiency slowly. I couldn't go further up, because I wasn't over 25, because my brain needed to finish developing. So now, years later, my psychiatrist and i are still looking for meds that wont affect me negatively (like vyvanse, as my already fast metabolism made me loose weight catastrophically). anyways, have a hug

I'm 61 and am at 70mg. now. I split it up 40 in the morning 30 by 1:00. Some I take the whole 70 in the morning. I have no.problems sleeping after 10 o'clock. I here you and feel you. When it comes to school (college or other) there are some things you can do. Get a real tuiter.Take less classes. Do it quicker. Quarter system. Or, just do less and take longer. It doesn't matter. Jr. Colleges seem to have the help more often than not. (And you gotta know this already, your not as dumb as think you are! Your not!) Hopefully Shire and others can develope better and better drugs for this terrible situation we have both found ourselves in. God bless you.... I really do wish you the very best.

My first day on Elvanse 30g, The best way I can describe it was it felt like I was floating, was so dizzy, spaced out and felt so sick. I’m on my 4th day and throughout the day I’ve gotten more and more nauseous and in general feeling really light headed, I have 0 appetite at all and I already take meds that decrease my appetite anyways. Does the symptoms get better over time? I got diagnosed March last year and I’m considering just not doing meds for adhd because this is my 4th time changing medication and I just want to see an effect

That sounds to me like you might be on too higher dose to start with and might need to start a little lower. The thing with the nausea...are you making sure to have your meds with food? I find if getting nausea...having with food helps it stop. Hopefully you've been able to make some progress...but yeah trying a lower dose might help ease in...like 10-20mgs to start till your body adjusts.

Vyvanse actually gets processed in the Liver, so eating food before or after doesn’t impact it’s function! It will for adderall and other adhd med’s though

Thank you for your kind words! I just read on the package that you're supposed to give it a minute before and after, but you are right, it doesn't have much effect on it's effectiveness what you eat and when you eat. Except for vitamin C, I read a lot about vitamin C rich foods interfering with the process of absorption.

Vyvanse is processed through the liver into Dextroamphetamine which is the active ingredient of Adderall, taking L-thysine supplements incres=ase its effectiveness as thats the enzyme that it interacts with in the live

I would like to know your input. I also feel that sense of brightness but also distractibility, irritability and when I am in a public place, overwhelmed by all the sounds in that location, I can get distracted by someone's conversation, then someone's movement etc. My symptoms have changed over time and depending on location, as a youth I was like a tomboy very active and in people's "faces" etc, as I went to school, zoned out and had immense difficulty in high school. All that being said, when I took Vyvanse I felt that brightness initially return, however I also felt more calm, like back and forth. The effects of being more calm and focused were more prominent several days later, but still felt that brightness. Could this be because the dose is too low? I also felt more vulnerable to being distracted, but not as prominent as being off meds. What is your experience and advice? I also noticed that the headaches and some nervousness was remedied by eating regularly. I had also stopped caffeine, so that could have been a factor at play as well. Thank you for your videos, as they are helping validate my experience.

On the start of my second day with medication and didnt even fell asleep First day felt heart "heavy" but with normal beating speed, harder to breath, weak legs, shaking a bit, and even weirder, the house tasks that i always leave for weekend (and have been waiting for 2 weeks now), I did them all in a single afternoon without having a reason... So weird...

I’m in the UK and have been waiting for ages to start titration. (NHS backlog) but I’m starting a new job soon and it’s so frustrating because I want to make a good impression but can’t do much about it.
