+HaxoResc I have had several classes in Boras, Sweden, and I visited Oslo on one of my trips - it was beautiful! If you can find someone in Norway who could host a workshop for me next year, let me know. I'm considering putting together a workshop tour through Europe and Scandanavia.

geeeeezzzzz nice work I've always wanted to make custom stuff like this. I just do general fab spiral staircases ss Bench Tops brass handrails. but never anything like this in Australia I don't think there's many places that do this type of custom work. I wasn't sure about having wing nuts seen on the top of the tank but then they showed the bike and the finished product awesome job

Well, it looks easy. Can you make a tank by brazing aluminum? (not welding)

Brazing sheet metal requires lap joints. I use butt joints for my tanks (and corner joints for the tunnel). It would be quite difficult to configure a custom aluminum gas tank to utilize lap joints.

Randy, They are called 'Rotabroach Annular Cutters' and are made by Hougen. You'll find them online pretty easily, and they are a superb tool for cutting holes in sheetmetal!

Is it possible to mount the gas tank and have it screwed in at the bottom of the tank instead of on top?

Yes, of course a tank can mount from the bottom - in fact, that's a much more common way to mount a tank. The goal for this tank was to feature the fasteners as a design element.

I'm increasing the size of my 13ltr on my fmx650 as I've fitted a mikuni tm40 racing carb,mivv gp cans,dna filter and airbox mod. It was doing 110mls before the mod 85 after.. I'd like to get 150 lucky I'm a tig/stick and mig welder so I can do the mod at work with no cost to me.. Unless I ruin it and have to buy new tank!

Yes, it's a small Hougen Rotobroach. These tools are unexcelled for making holes in sheetmetal.

Ok Ron ! can I use the english wheel wich iron sheet metals ? work fine it ? See my video , is a project for my school , the childrens of 15 years old make all the electric wiring of a conventional car in it. In the future , I make all the body parts wich steel metal sheets. For this I quistion you if the english wheel work good wich STEEL metal sheet of 1,0 mm. Thanks ! Master !

The tool is called a Blair Rotabroach, a type of annular cutter that works well with both sheet metal and plate, and they come in all sizes.

It's a custom-built bike, with a modified Harley-Davidson Sportster engine. Joe McGlynn, the founder of Crime Scene Choppers, built the bike.

Yes, you can use oxy-acetylene welding for motorcycle gas tanks!

how do you test tank for leaks??

The tank is pressurized with a couple of pounds of air, then brushed wth soapy water. Look for bubbles, which indicates a leak.

I'm looking for someone to make a bunch of aluminum motorized bike frames and tanks that I would sell on my website or to bike shops. If I sent you my steel frame and tank do you think you could make cheaper aluminum copies for me to sell? I just need frames and tanks. I would complete the bikes and motorize them myself.

Stainless steel is not generally used for motorcycle gas tanks, because of the difficulty of forming the material, and the fact that stainless distorts a great deal when it is welded. I used 1008 drawing-quality (mild) steel for the tank in the video.

I used 18-gauge steel for this tank. Some people use 16-gauge, which is more difficult to form, but is definitely more durable.

There is always more than one way to do a job. I use the techniques that I've had the best results from, but I'm not going to say this is the ONLY way to make a tank!

The metal master created a very nice tank. The commentary did not do justice to the artist, should have just shut up and allowed the artist work. Thumbs up for the artist but a big negative to the commentary.
