it somehow slowed me severely down and had to watch it several times to get the whole real content.....thats why I simply avoid llistening to distracting "professionals" these days - their melodic shit dumbing people badly down !
One more thing. I had ZERO idea that the process to make tofu was so similar to making cheese. I used to work at a farmstead cheese plant, so this absolutely blew my mind!
Fun fact, the magnesium chloride coagulant is basically what they used throughout history. Tofu makers in ancient japan used seawater to coagulate tofu milk, which contains Water, table salt (NaCl) and "Nigari" which are slightly bitter and tasteless salts like magnesium chloride. When they discovered that they could separate the NaCl from the Nigari, they were able to make tofu that wasn't salty flavored.
I'm not a vegetarian but I actually really like tofu! I personally think it tastes delicious but for the longest time, I avoided ever trying it because it seemed that every person I had talked to that had eaten it, just described how disgusting it was! I honestly don't get it. There are many nights I even chose this over all other meats that I can get from the supermarket. But that's just my opinion.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I like tofu. Never thought about trying it until we went to a hibachi grill, now I'll order it in a meal if I see it on the menu. Friend's wife is Korean also and she makes a tofu soup, so good.
@@greenlawnfarm5827 ❝They dont use pounds in china. Its probubly like 100 pounds.❞ The metric unit for mass is not a problem. The problem is that pressure is force *over area*. She should have said 59 kilograms of force (we can assume that's 59 kg mass in standard Terran gravity), not pressure.
So it is ok to grind little plants into food because they cant consent or tell you that they are afraid to die or feel fear and pain, but if it is baby chickens in China, then it is wrong?
Yes, it will still have proteins. It will also have some minerals and vitamins I think, including the magnesium chloride coagulant they used. However, some of that would be lost, so if you really want to try a very nutritious soy product (even more so than tofu), I recommend tempeh from Indonesia.
+john darwin tayson man I hope you don't have a constant steady supply of soy products going in your body like it appears. I'm not sure whether soy is good, bad, or both but I do know eating too much soy to often is going to increase your estrogen levels in your body.
I agree. I am glad I live in Massachusetts - here, in the city of Cambridge, there is a company (Chang Shing Tofu Inc.) that makes fresh tofu for distribution in the local Chinese supermarkets. Most of them come in plastic tubs rather than being wrapped, with the tofu stored in water (which is the traditional method for storing them if one cannot use it up all at once). They also produce pressed tofu and fried tofu, which do not require water immersion storage.
Very cool to learn about this process, especially to be able to see the food prepared from beginning to end without being grossed out, seeing any blood, etc. like I would see waching meat being broken down and processed for sale. I bet if more people saw meat being processed, they wouldn't want to eat it anymore.
Magnesium chloride can be found underwater, much like salt, and it also behaves similarly. It is used in a variety of way, such as coagulant, and ice control, though next to harmless in small consumptions. it is classified as "irritating".
This is cruel! I'm glad this video can raise awareness as to the mistreatment of those poor soybeans! Also do they use magnesium chloride in traditional tofu?
Stallya Yes, magnesium chloride is the main component of nigari, which is used in traditional tofu making for a smoother texture. It's chemically similar to sodium chloride, otherwise known as table salt. (Sodium has 11 electrons and magnesium has 12) Calcium sulphate (gypsum) is the most widely used nowadays.
i never realized soy beans went through so many processes to become tofu, wonder if its that healthy to eat considering how many processes it goes through.
Tofu is the reason I can drive and drift my car. My father used to make me deliver tofu because he was always to drunk to drive. I remember I messed up a order of tofu. He beat me good. But I never did it again. But then I had school work to do so I got faster and faster at the tofu delivery. Now my car is called initial F it stands for fiero. I drive a 1986 fiero hence initial f
cobalt blue well if it's a vegetarian/vegan thing I'm cool with that don't get me wrong I can see why you would see that as gross; but as I am omnivore I see eating ''eyes, guts and intestines'' part of my diet. And has been for millions of years; so when I see videos of butcheries and farms that mass produce cattle I see it as a testament of our ingenuity and technology, it gives me a little boner to see as a human race and masters of this planet we can harness this much food for us. What's left to solve is how to live together without killing each other.
***** humans haven't been killing animals for food, for millions of years? Then what are those cave drawings about? Real Hardcore gangsta Vegans lol that made my day :) Listen guy I get it. It looks gross when you kill something and gut it to eat it. (fishing, hunting) But imagine if every creature on earth, didn't kill in order for it to survive. Haven't you seen the lion king, circle of life man.
Whit3King i eat meat and i know for a fact that hotdogs are really bad for you bro... You can even find vids on yt on how there made... You will never look at one the same
this mass produced tofu is bad, come to any east & south east asian country. where i come from tofu is everywhere, and people here like it better than a steak (im a picky person and i like it), at least in indonesia we made it traditionally without coagulant and any of that chemical (if you buy the good one) fried tofu with sambal sauce is the best, or mapo doufu & egg silk tofu stew I feel bad for vegan in western country for their tasteless tofu
A very good replacement for cheese. Tofu is tasteless so you have to know how to cook tofu to make it rich in flavor. You can just fry it and deep it with chilli sauce.Nyumyy.
