This video gives you a quick insight into how our Hope RX Cranks are manufactured.
The RX Cranks are Hope's latest step into the Gravel and Road world. A two-piece hollow design allows for the removal of any unwanted material increasing stiffness and reducing weight. And all proudly designed, manufactured and tested in Barnoldswick, UK to the same standards as our MTB cranks, for confident use on or off road.

not useful that the next video Hopetech video prompt (embedded) popped up obscuring the screen for the last process

Why do you hand tap and not machine tap or thread mill the thread for the pedal spindle?
@pinkpotato1

I saw the hand tapping and thought its a bit bizarre with the amount of kit they have

Probably quicker to do it by hand at that stage. Doesn't look like the machines that are used after the bonding process could do that. So they'd maybe need to use another machine.

It doesn't take long to tap it by hand and you can inspect it at the same time.

@@anthonylovell2271 do you work at Hope? Just seems in a world where speed and quantity matters, it seems like its a little bit backwards even if reductions in time sometimes result in a reduction in quality.

@@ashleyeaston3203 no, just tapped a lot of holes and check quite a few parts.

hi guys, i have been using hope parts for 13 years, hubs, brakes, stems, grips, bar ends, spacers, seat clamps, pedals, head doctor, rotors and many other. and yesterday ordered 2 more hubs. have loved the quality and durabilety. now when i browsed hope tech website, i did not find any info of how long the warranty is for the parts?, somewhere was written that only 1 year for original owner. somehow i remembered that it was lifetime warranty, or has it been changed? have broken only 1 hope pro 2 evo trial hub axle, and it was replaced no questions asked.

i wonder how this compares to how shimano hollowtech cranks are made, i heard thet they are forged, machines then bonded

Have you ever thought about friction stir welding the 2 parts together rather than bonding?

Thanks for introducing me to friction stir welding.

Hahaha yes i love this! And they can also charge the end user an exorbitant price for implementing an "aerospace" procedure to help make our chains and sprockets go round and round!

Nice cranks but you need to make a compatible oval ring to go with it. At the moment only round rings are available, so no good for an oval fan like myself.

Why make them from two different parts ?

So it’s hollow and much lighter
