A simple mercury-filled sea-saw system that uses buoyancy on 2 ends, an internal tube of mercury, and harnesses energy from the flowing mercury inside is much easier to build, doesn't require computers or active monitoring, and doesn't require seals that are in contact with moving parts. It can also be made out of cheaper materials and, if hit by a ship, will just float on the ocean until picked up. Cheap and simple.

Ships, trains, and especially planes, power plants, or freaking space shuttles require a massive amount of maintanance and people operating them, usually a whole team. I can see why people, especially those with some understanding of mechanics and sustainable systems, are sceptical. CorPower probably (hopefully) took all that into account so let's wait and see how things go.

Amazing that even without any study in the area I was looking at the measurement system of a caliper had designed a system to generate energy with waves in the same style, but after a long time I saw that I could use a permanent magnet on the float and a coil in the fixed part and a sliding system with a ceramic shaft and Stabilizers using an aluminum part and a magnet to prevent the waves from causing the buoy to reach the limit of the coils and cause some damage to the system. The coil and magnet sliding system on a ceramic shaft would have a very small friction and would be easily replaced. With few moving parts, the most stressed being the support cables on the seabed.

Probably the main mistake is that the generator needs to be positioned near the bottom. And let the buoy float on top. Then you don't need to waste energy on lifting a heavy buoy. And it's always quiet at the bottom. There is no sea disturbance and it is much closer to the cables. The buoy itself can be made completely autonomous.

Single critical point of failure is at the interface / seal , where the rod(s) enter the sphere. The problem is not in the area of the shaft that travels through the seal regularly, this will be ‘wiped’ clean during normal operation. However, any part of the rod that does not ‘cycle’ through the seal regularly, will be highly prone to biological attachments (remember the rod is stationary in the sea, anchored to the bottom.) This buildup will destroy water tightness over months, rather than years, ie maintenance dives are required to keep the extremities of the rods clean. Or, each cycle should be a full cycle, that might help offset the risk of biological attachments.

@@corpowerocean7527 I could not find any info about your "frequency domain" in your link. Instead I found some info about resonance. These contraptions are too small to resonate with the waves. By the way I did some work in this field. I designed diving contraption and I found Irish businessman who was willing to build it. Fortunately, we had enough common sense to abandon this risky project. A few years later I invented cheap material (strong basalt foam) which made the diving contraptions much more economical. I have not built anything yet because I have more important energy projects now.

Our CorPack wave clusters have the Wave Energy Converters installed with 150m spacing, delivering approximately 15 MW/km2 in power per used ocean space. The modular approach with many relatively small devices packed in high density clusters enables very efficient use of ocean space. 15 MW/km2 can be compared with a typical offshore wind farm delivering 3-5 MW/km2. The high power density of this solution means the use of ocean space is minimized. The single-leg mooring arrangement also means a minimum interference with the seabed and minimum disturbance to boaters and fishing activities. Fishermen in Portugal are seen laying nets just on the perimeter of our wave site, as the foundations and other structures on the site seem to increase fish activity in the area. 300kW can power close to 300 households as the average electricity consumption (in the US and Europe) is about 1kW (< 10000 kWh annually). www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=97&t=3

Interesting but I have a much better design that doesn't rely on that vulnerable seal or on computerization to deal with rough weather. You make a design that looks like a pair of old barbells or 2 maracas attached together. Inside, there's a large tube filled partially with mercury(and yes, its mercury because its my idea and I like mercury). In the middle of this system is a simple pivot point attached to a simple anchoring system. As the device sea-saws, the heavy mercury turns turbines inside the sealed inner tube. The wiring exits the inside tube and the body of the thing itself - since its multi-layered - through an easily-sealed port. The fulcrum of this sea-saw machine doesn't need to be an expensive bearing and the device itself can be made out of cheap materials. The multiple layers and single hold in the device for wiring ensures that it won't get filled with water nor will mercury leak out even if the inner-most tube fails. In fact, if there's an internal leak, you'll be able to notice it when the device doesn't rock back and forth. This design is far simpler than yours, doesn't rely on active monitoring, actuators, and computers, and its much more robust, easily-installed, and practically immune to damage. If a ship hits it and breaks it from its anchor, it'll just float on the water until recovered with minimal repairs needed. I'm giving you this free idea because I love mercury and think it should be used for the production of renewable energy.
