In Hengmao Hardware, the knives are made with a entire piece of pro knife steel, and won't use cement, unless they are with plastic or ceramic handles.
Sherrill Manufacturing made in USA. Cutlery, flatware, whatever you want to call it is fine. The last set shown is not Liberty/Sherrill, it's Oneida flatware in the Golden Julliard pattern. Sincerely, flatware nerd.
@David Sanchez Yes it is. Sherrill Manufacturing was formed by former Oneida Ltd employees when Oneida decided to get rid of their US flatware plants. They are the only remaining company to make flatware in the USA, so if you want to buy USA instead of china crap buy from them
@@St0rmcrash Not all current Oneida is made in China, although I keep hearing that incorrect info in reviews. Their top lines are now made in Vietnam of 18/10 stainless and the quality seems comparable to their old USA made top lines. I recently bought some new Oneida Marquette to add to my old pieces and I can't tell any difference in the quality so far. Time will tell. Of course I wish it was still made in the USA, but it's still good quality and is much more affordable. I had to go online to find it.
Yes, I recognized several Oneida patterns in this video too. As much as I admire Liberty Tabletop, imo Oneida and Reed & Barton still have by far the prettiest patterns. Liberty needs to work on their designs.
@@abc-wv4in I think their contract for Oneida ended some time ago. All the made in USA stuff is sold under their Liberty Tabletop brand factory direct online

Quite a few of the patterns in this video are Oneida patterns. (I'm a bit of a flatware geek.) I admire Liberty for their USA-made flatware, but their patterns are not as elegant as Oneida, Reed &.Barton, etc. Liberty's very plain patterns are lovely but not everyone likes "very plain." Their other patterns just aren't up to par, imo. Not all other flatware is made in China, only the cheaper lines. Some that is now made in Vietnam of 18/10 stainless is very nice quality and much more reasonably priced, but you don't find those lines in the big box stores. Go on line. Yes, I wish it was still made in the USA, but there are other high quality options still available.
Sherrill Mfg./Liberty is mentioned in a Modern Marvels episode titled "Chrome." Theirs is made from rolls of stainless steel according to that video. Very interesting.
Really? I've heard it both ways and generally, where I'm from, we just say "silverware" even if it's made of stainless steel without having any silver content in it at all. Disposable, plastic utensils (for picnics and take-out or as I've read it in other Countries "take-away"?) usually have "Plastic Cutlery" printed on the package.

Actually the higher-end flatware sets have traditionally had hollow handles. The steel used for the blades is not the steel that is used for the other pieces, and hollow handles are more labor and time intensive. The one-piece knives were always the cheaper ones. Good hollow handles are far from "crap." (Yeah, very late reply LOL but maybe it will help current viewers.)
