The first design rolling off our new Lathe Machining Center is our product feet. More details to come on the design, but here is a sneak peak showing the lathe process from bar to finished product. This process was programmed and set up by Jonathan Sondreal, MSB's newest team member, who has years of experience on lathe machines. Starting with a rod of 303 Stainless Steel, the lathe will automatically use this material foot by foot as it machines. Each blank generates more than 40 feet. After the pointed end is machined, the lathe hands off the foot to the sub-spindle where it adds the M6x1 threaded stud. Once complete, the lathe ejects the foot to an outside tray where it can be retrieved. A few measurements and a thread gauge can be used to verify part accuracy and finish quality.
