Visually it was amazing. Storywise it was a bit slow in spots - almost like switching between an action film and a nature documentary - but the emotional hits at the end were powerful.
After only 3 weeks it's made over $1.5 billion and I'm sure will eventually hit over $2 billion and get into the top 5 of all time worldwide. Never doubt James Cameron. Where are all of the people that said nobody was interested in Avatar anymore and it wouldn't even make a billion dollars? LOL!
Just got back from seeing it, incredible movie, had to be seen in cinema but even the story was a lot better than I expected. The underwater scenes are simply astonishing.
James Cameron spoke in an interview the other day and cleared this up. He miscalculated his original comments, he said it broke even at 1.4-1.5b so it's already making profit
My family and I was blown away and astounded how incredibly amazing this film is. We watched the 3D IMAX version, and totally loved it ❤ It felt like we were there inside the movies 🎥 😉 I'm also happy to see that they used our country's Weta workshop, plus Maori patterns/tattoos on the water tribe characters, and kewl seeing some of our kiwi actors in this film too 😀 Everyday, the movies seats has been filled, fully booked out, and glad he's making billions for this movie. We love watching this at the Imax cinema, the efx are out of this world 🌎 amazing 👏 Looking forward to seeing him explore another tribe.. like we had the earth(forest) nation part 1, now the water tribe part2, what's next? Wind or fire nation 🔥 🤔 Can't wait whoop woop 🙌 👏 Well done James Cameron, you've done it again. I loved Terminator, Aliens prt2, and all. Looking forward for the next installment to the Avatar series.
I was watching this thinking - some millennial/zoomer who ‘knows it all’. Ok, I still might learn something. But the line - ‘as Jesus said’ won me completely. Gonna watch more.
They didn't start filming until 2015 I believe and they're 95 % done the third already with 1/3 of the fourth completed. And with actors having other roles they played and covid I say they busted their @$$ for this series.
Storyline is missing... But loved the visuals. Still not worth 3hours of our life. They could have easily made it less then 2hours without cutting whatever story they had.
Only visual was the core of the movie. The story is even worse because it blows a hole in the first movie even more than the first movie did itself. The guy that was killed had his memories saved and later uploaded into an avatar. Okay, so why wasn't it done to Jake's brother in the first movie? It was said how much it cost to make just one and it seems really REALLY short sighted that there wasn't a backup means in case the one person who could operate the avatar unexpectedly died. Can't argue that such tech to backup a person's mind didn't exist because it would take the same kind of tech to transmit a mind into another body. A company puts all the time and money into choosing a person and making their avatar and they don't do a simple insurance policy move like that?
@@jamesestrella5911 😆 that doesn't even come close to refuting or even hinting at refuting the points I've made. The transit time between planets alone already screams of things that could wrong between Earth and Pandora. The Avatars have to mature and they do while in transit as the first movie stated. You basically said "the company will spend almost untold millions for one avatar and leave it to chance that both the pilot and the avatar make it in one piece"
This movie was 5 out of 10 at best. Unless you're all about the technology and visuals and cool fx's, then it's a 9 out of 10. Sadly, for me, a compelling narrative is far more important than stunning effects. It's a decent technological leap for movie effects, but that's about it. the only praise every reviewer is giving is how amazing the visuals are.
How deep of you to be cerebral in a world of apes. I bet half the elite movies you would praise don't have a masterful screenplay that weaves a handful of themes, half a dozen character arcs into a poignant coming of age through a novel narrative structure, like Way of Water does
These Avatar movies are terrible, the second avatar movie is just the first one, expect it`s under water. The movies don`t have great characters nor great stories, the dialogue is bad, but they make a lot of money so unfortunately the world will suffer more medicore films through the avatar universe.
Faaaaaawk you mean $50 script? That "I see you" line he said to his middle son after the son redeemed himself brought literal tears to my eyes. I'd cash app you $50 to go watch the movie with your family and stop regurgitating what you read on the internet
@@raider_reaper_4194 they can probably only find emotion if enough people make reels or shorts about it. Wouldn't you say JAKE redeemed himself, by stopping his treatment of his family as a squad?
Yeah sorry, but script wad horrendous. Could cut 2 hours out of this and would be fine. I could see what cameron was going for but just throwing in all these characters minimal explanation or dialouge feels rushed. The son died and i felt nothing. Thats a bad script.
