Actually it involves in historical reason,hiragana is used for daily spoken language,katakana is used for reading of foreign language like English and for specific name like companies or people's name ,since Japanese borrowed Chinese characters in tang dynasty, kanji is formed,however,since Chinese has many words which are Same in pronunciation but different in tone,while Japanese doesn't have that kind of tones, they have to indicate the words in kanji to prevent confusion
@RanmaruRei
@RanmaruRei 3 года назад
@@bosco_c6431 there is one more reason and I believe it's more significant. Writing in kanji is shorter, than in kana. In old days writing material (I hope I use right words) was not that cheap. I remember how my native language (Russian) was written in old manuscripts. For instance, instead of Богородица (lit. the Mother of God) in the Bible wrote Б҃ца. And it's just one of the tricks used to save precious space.
@bosco_c6431
@bosco_c6431 3 года назад
@@RanmaruRei yes,as the Japanese borrow kanji, they speak kanji in their language, which the advantage of original kanji , one character has one syllable only has disappeared , in Japanese spoken Japanese ,1 character might have 1 or even 3 syllables for one kanji, if they directly write in hiragana or katakana, the sentence will be so long

I am Japanese and am a young person, but I don't use the typing system. I usually use the Roma Ji Keyboard, it looks like normal English keyboard. Some Japanese use that one, so you don't have to remember the way he explained if you found difficulty. However, that one which he explained is the most common way to type on the phone(many elderly folks can't do this though), if you could do this every Japanese will be surprised!!! Please try just a once(^^♪ sorry if my english was not good

I’ve been learning Japanese and I agree that the romaji keyboard is way easier to use, especially since I’m an English speaker. All you have to do is remember the sound of the word and you can type it. I think it’s best at the beginning but using the other keyboard is probably better once you’re more proficient in Japanese (since you should be learning more about moras and becoming intuitive with sentence structure and kanji). The journey has only begun! 日本語は難しいです (Hopefully I didn’t mess up that sentence 😂)

I am Spanish and just now relearning Japanese. The Spanish keyboard is similar to the English one. Personally, I want to avoid the romaji keyboard even if it allows me to type faster as I want to try practicing with the Japanese characters themselves, so I use the keyboard similar to the video. I think it's a better way if you want to get used to writing in Japanese

It's actually pretty interesting! The Kanji characters got obviously introduced first, when Japan didn't have its own writing system. Since women were not allowed to learn Kanji in the 8th century, they made up their own writing system, Hiragana. Men were allowed to learn Kanji in the 8th century but were not always sure about the pronunciation, that's why they invented Katakana, to write it above the Kanji and therefore know how a specific word gets pronounced. Nowadays, hiragana is used above a kanji to know its pronunciation, while Katakana is used for foreign words :)

You can add 語 at the end of any country to say the language and 人 to say the are from there. For example, ドイツ人 (doitsujin) means the German human andドイツ語 (doitsugo) means German as the language. For inputting uncommon kanji, most modern smartphones allow you to draw the full kanji with your finger over the whole screen. You just need to add it to your keyboard in the settings. You do need to understand the basic principles of stroke order for it to work though.

I usually type japanese using QWERTY too.. it is a lot easier for me, because I use to read Latin alphabet. Once, I tried using that sweeping style of writing, it ended with confusion 🤣, too many sweeps. And thanks to the Kanji suggestions system, I recognize a lot kanji combinations with its meaning, yet If I have to rewrite it again I'll be just like an elementary school student. 🤣

I prefer qwerty keyboard, I'm just so used to that one. Propositions work the same way. Also I have added the hand-writing one. It's actually helpful to learn because: a. You need to actually remember characters / you practice writing it b. If keyboard can understand what you've written it means your kanji are pretty good. And definitely, kanji look good in the anime.

I am so used to the wapuro method (alphabet in, japanese out) that even though a few months ago I got myself a japanese phone I am using that imput method there too. The swiping method is very clever but it is just like the hiragana keyboard on a PC - I would have to train too much and that is a hassle, it is bad enough that I have to use QWERTY because in my language we use QWERTZ like most of central Europe.

When I first started I was using the romanji keyboard, but I found the 12-key kana one to be better, it is a bit annoying as it doesn't have a dedicated katakana mode so it's sometimes a pain if it doesn't show up in the possible options above it. It does fairly well for Kanji, provided you know which one you need
