Tbf "Kitne aadmi the.." became such a hit more because of the brilliant dialogue delivery and acting of Amzad Khan (Gabbar) rather than writing. Give the same dialogue to anyone else and see how ordinary it sounds.

People are saying that it's not his achievement that he wrote "Kitne Admi the?" It's about dialogue delivery of an actor & I completely agree with them. But I wonder, do these people comment even before watching the video? Javed Akhtar didn't claimed that as his achievement. He literally said that in the video that he doesn't even consider that a dialogue. Also people forget that he's one of the best writer, poet, lyricist our country ever had. He doesn't have to prove his greatness to people like you who just hate him because he's muslim by birth and atheist in his ideology.

Javed Akhtar is definitely a gifted poet and lyricist. But the glamorization of alcoholism drunkenness is just quite pathetic and ridiculous. No sane, sober person needs to be necessarily intoxicated to be inspired to write memorable poems or songs. Javed Akhtar is just playing to the gallery here. Indians are fascinated by alcohol and drunkenness.

You must realize that he’s not glamorizing drunkenness. Rather, he’s saying that he feels lucky that it got so popular, in spite of him having written it while dead drunk. Also, according to him, he stopped drinking over thirty years ago.

Apart from several other occasions where I have heard Javed allude to his own past drunkenness and creativity, even here he seemed to me to very indirectly link the two to his own sudden fit of creative inspiration in conjuring up and completing the song in question. If he has truly been sober for a very long time, he has only done himself a favor. It hasn’t dimmed his creativity or charm, despite frequently disagreeing with many of his views.,
