What an excellent report. I was born and raised in Kap, my great grand father was a guard there in the war , and you brought to life a story we just are not very aware of. Thanks!
. my grandfather was interned in Kapuskasing 1914 to 1918 . i always wanted to go and see that place . he loved Canada and later settled in Alberta . so much we do not know about the past .
A totally terrific video. I than k you for your hard work, research and creativity in producing this highly informative video. You are to be commended in the highest order.
the guards were the mosquitoes and black flies. it was a dreadful ...while it’s a shadow of its former self, Kapuskasing is still very much the “Jewel of the North”...
thanks for this video! randomly got curious to see what life would be like in the city James Cameron was born in and found this gem of a vid. May Allah (God) bless you.
This episode is truly Outstanding--the content, format and delivery. It's much more Interesting to explain the story on site and keep it short and sharp. I live in NYC ( move back from west coast.) I just subscribed. I can see your channel grow to a Big one. Keep finding your own nitch.
Good thought! We wanted to talk about the history of the camp this time - but that's a great video idea.. GM tests vehicles in Kap.. just like how Airbus tests planes in Iqaluit! Canada is often the northern training ground for a lot of companies.
@@canadaehxplained77 that's fair, I was thinking that it could be a representation of the harsh cold of northern Ontario. Did you think about similarities between these internment camps and the gulags of northern Siberia?
@@WestBazzi That one I knew! I always point out the test track to people when I drive through town. Kapuskasing is one of those small towns that never seems to stop impressing!
Also known for cancer. They sprayed agent orange all around the town for the paper mill. If you search a bit you ll learn. I grew up in Kap. Loved it so much. Thé gréât white north. Also the biggest French community in Ontario. Both my parents are from a family of 11 kids. So family gatherings was soooooo much fun.
