The important thing about bad luck is that you need to have enough money (EDIT: at least 11,000 Bells) on you when you get your fortune read. There is no dialogue option to get purified afterwards!

I got an island today with zodiac stars in the rocks. There was only 2 rocks but it was super fun and unexpected. The island also had vines on it.

I've heard a rumor that if you have good luck with money if you bury 99,000 bells in the glowing spot, it'll always come out with three 99,000 bells. I'm testing that theory myself to see if it works.

I’ve done it, when I had good luck with money, dug up 5k bells, I buried 99k bells and received 300k bells from the tree.

Katrina has given me the golden turtle TWICE after the purification. I looked at the Nook's shopping app: I basically paid 11,000 bells for an ugly 2,600 item I don't want. Wow thanks Katrina

Confirmed in my game, Katrina has 4 special items - Mini Dharma, Horseshoe decoration (door/wall), Golden Turtle Figure, Power Stone (Katrina's crystal ball). They are all very fun. The mini Dharma can also be customised to different variations.

I don’t know if the friendship levels got messed with in the update, or the bad luck lowered friendship, but I’ve gotten two photos of villagers I already had 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe I just assumed we could only get the photo once. I got a golden turtle from Katrina after a purification, that item is kinda cool. The other two items went straight in my storage never to be seen again, lol

I think villagers only remember the last 10-20 items they gave you, so it’s possible that that’s why.

Not sure if it related to Katrina, but a few days ago, Bea ask me to do a treasure hunt, and the treasure end up being her photo frame, now I have 2 of her photo. :-) She's one of my favorite, so this is great.

It could be because of the luck, but last year that happened to me with a villager... so it is something that can happen anyway. Still a lovely thing to get with a fun treasure hunt😊

There is a way to somewhat predict what kind of luck you’ll have. You have a 70% chance of a good luck day and a 30% chance of a bad luck day. When you have a bad luck day, regardless of purification, you will be guaranteed to have good luck the following day.

Love your videos, wish you had just done a bit more research on this. What I learned is that Katrina has an entire hidden item set and will send you one random item in the mail the day after you get purified from bad luck. Additionally, good luck is more common than bad luck. You are guaranteed to have good luck the day after you receive bad luck, and the day after you receive good luck, you have 70% chance of having good luck again. This means you will never have bad luck two days in a row. edited to fix typo

Clarification on the Money Rock with Katrina's Wealth boon- it removes the 100 bell coin from the first strike and instead awards a 10,000 bell bag on the final 8th strike. It's extremely worth it to visit Katrina at the very start of your day's play for really any of these boons

I don't often visit Katrina that much but I happened to visit her a few days ago and she told me I'd have good luck with money. I didn't really know how it would pan out but every balloon I shot down had money in it and when I dug up the bells, I got 5,000 rather than 1,000 bells. Definitely need to visit Katrina more if that will happen again!

I wish the luck relates to things like rare fish/bugs/items because there’s absolutely no way to affect that and I’m stuck with an incomplete museum because certain fishes just never spawns

The cooking effect on the hunger gauge is different there is no luck involved. Make a drink there is two sizes one goes up to three for each 1 sip. The other still 3 sips but goes 1 then 2 then 3 up to 5 is max. With the lucky count it adds 2. Hope this makes sense.

I do wonder how the new Katrina mechanics has affected chances of getting photos from villagers (talking about getting subsequent photos from same villager after you got one already), seems the default changed in 2.0 update, feels like it was halved from what ever it was initially (once photo is added to pool of items to receive as gift). So do i now have to talk to Katrina to get the same chances as before...
