Kelly, one time, interviewed Avril complimenting her on it, Avril reciprocating with huge rap for Kelly’s version. There was slight lyric change here and there; the song is actually Avril’s story- “grew up in a small town..” such a great song, so suitable to both voices.
@@thinker185I gotta agree. She’s had nothing come close to that. That album had so many hits. Sometimes artists think they know what sells more than actual producers. Sometimes they do but most of the time they don’t.
I think it does fit in a way that the other songs were so pop rock hyped that youll hear this after the other ones and think shes finally free from the other songs... did not know Avril wrote it!! Shes an amazing songwriter since she was very young.
I went to listen to Avril’s version of Breakaway and totally saw her coming through. I love Avril’s voice and songs but she was smart to hand this one to Kelly. Kelly’s version really knocked it out of the park. Greatness from both of these artists
It really doesn't. The theme of most of the songs is a little bit vengeful and scorned. Plus, it's a total pop rock album apart from Breakaway, which has country energy..
I really love this song, I love almost all her songs, but I remember this song more than others because it was used to promote The Princess Diaries 2 and I was a teenager. Back then all movies had to have a song to promote it. Hero for Spiderman, Bring Me to Life for Daredevil, etc.
I love that album, I jam my brains out to that song, the entire album. When I can't find my cat I sing Because of You, and she comes running out from wherever she is ❤
I agree totally with what Kyle is saying I didn’t think the break away with her so that she needed to have on that album but I still love it and still listen to it a lot of the time
Nah cause this song slapped and I loved Avril as a kid. Hearing breakaway for the first time on the radio, I immediately went home and downloaded it into my mp3 from limewire, and it fit perfectly with my other Avril songs. This must be why!
I agree with her, I love the song but it doesn’t have the same vibe as the others (which I also love)! But a lot of albums tend to have one or two ballads thrown in even if they’re mostly more uptempo or angsty stuff
It was a few years ago when I learned that Avril wrote Breakaway, and I remember immediately thinking “That makes so much sense!” Because it sounds SO Avril.
