thank you so much!! there are several similar tricks like this but i also did my own research and took a look at a bunch of idols makeup to see whats similar and tried to imitate it/put my spin to it! i also was told some tips from actual kpop idol makeup artists when i went to get my makeup done from them before so that helped alot with this video as well~~ glad u see a difference!!
@@lilyis_ That's fascinating, I love that kind of deep dive into the intricacies of how stuff works. And I like that your video has nothing to do with fawning over or pouring out one's obsession over how certain people or their makeup looks, I feel like I'm becoming sensitive over that kind of thing cause it seems like unhealthy idolization. But videos like this one where you explore, analyze, experiment, showcase, that's very interesting. I'm interested in many things kpop but it's hard to filter out the idolization. It's refreshing to see for example makeup in kpop talked about just as a normal thing. Hope my rant isn't annoying! And yeah I want to say if you enjoy making this kind of content know that there is an audience for it. 😊 Thank you for a well crafted, interesting and insightful video.
Well it is replicating light placement. I guess they tried to replicate a specific light placement that appeared on someone else using this or these persons as reference, same process as painting or doing art, referencing is a good way to go!
Damn buddy Korean makeup is a whole new science class lol particularly to someone like me who just slaps on some tinted moisturizer and calls it a day.
@@aleena_rose19I hope you aren’t actually mixing the two formulations together🙏🏻🙏🏻 it will affect the efficacy of your sunscreen greatly as it’s very, intricately formulated to stabilize the UV filters. You won’t be getting the actual SPF it states on the bottle if you are mixing. Just a lil wisdom cuz I care frfr but yesss you on it protect your skin boo!!!
@@ellyie_n it helps with positioning of the face and where the facial features should go, but generally I would recommend adding more guidelines. It works for me ^^
I wonder why, if most westerners have angles and depth to some degree. Asiatic and Asian style faces may dramatically benefit from this on the other hand. I guess any round face could use this as well.
@@NormieNeko Sadly i have a round face from the front but flat from the side. Deep set eyes didnt help at all with that. But its nice theres stuff to help for everyone!
I'm 40 and this is the first make up tutorial that I've seen in a while that shows a legitimately unique and interesting way of contour/highlighting in years. Maybe it's not so new, but it's new to me. Well done! 👍
This is some pythagoras ass shit howtf did they come up with euclidean makeup omg i am in awe, the results are phenomenal and I'm going to use this video to my students whenever they ask when they'll ever use geometry in real life
THIS is the kind of shading I was looking for. Not something snatched like I'm painting on a canvas, but something that makes shading look like it's my real face
I think that is more to do with similar features than ethnicity,(ethnicity plays a role tho) but I think if you want to know if some makeup style, trend or trick is gonna work on you,see if you have similar features to the people who are rocking with that trick,if they are completely diferent, you can still try to see if works or not. E.g: I have soft features (low visual weight +rounded features) so I search for celebrities that share similar features too, like many kpop idols or random people on internet with similar traits, since I am often darker then them(I am african) I just ajust the colors, opting for deeper tones to show up in my skin(not soo deep to the point that starts becoming too heavy) and it works really well,I have my own version of heavy makeup (is not the same way the westerners do) my fav makeup isnpo are: wonyoung, Jennie from blackpink, IU,Nayeon, Danielle from New Jeans, etc.
I love how you say "Your dark circles" and "Your smile lines" like you implying that your entire audience has them, it's a good way to normalise them and show just about everyone has them, both of those things have insecuritys of mine on the past. Good job!
smile lines shouldn't even be an insecurity. even kids have them. so weird of these beauty influencers and kpop idols to make it look like an insecurity.
I used to do theater makeup and this is one of the common ways to contour small sections of faces for more detail, especially when you put on fake facial hair or half- masks after. It's not like doing regular makeup but it's much less expensive and lets you practice varied methods without taking it all too seriously. I used to have my gf sit there for a half hour while I try different things, and she steals the techniques she likes. Win-win lol
I'm guessing it usually works more for asian face cuz other ethnicities have more defined face structure like cheekbones high eyebrows etc while asian faces are usually kinda flat and round with straight brows u know? Just my opinion 😅 (btw i know not all people from same race are similar)
@@kjdunjg2929 i see i didn't know that, I'm asian with round face and full cheeks even tho I'm skinny while my friend who is arab has a very defined features as if she has natural contour
I started the video thinking "I know how to use concealer this is going to tell me what I already know" and I am absolutely floored. I'm bookmarking this.
I've been drawing for years, but I don't really pay attention to make up because it didn't interest me. But ever since I binge watch make up video, I realized it's all is just like drawing, so it spark my interest in make up! And honestly, learning make up help with my drawing too! Now I know how to draw super pretty girls 😊
@@christianconrad5200 i’ll be honest it’s prolly the lighting she has then and besides south asians often have flat faces so she’s right abt that and dimension is only rlly seen with the correct lighting
This is the first really subtle tip I’ve seen that makes such an obvious difference. I wonder what this looks like in regular light in person. Nice work!
I think you'll be okay . This is no new technology and makeup like this and even heavier has been popular for nearly 70 years. The old Hollywood look required lots of makeup and alterations to the appearance lots of people tried to copy the looks of movie stars and famous people no different than lots of people today. I swear y'all act like everything you perceive as negative is this new modern tragedy
Its not so visible for naked eyes but in photos, it gives the face more dimension. It's used by k- makeup artist to make an idols face flattering from every angles
This appeared on my YT home. After I watched the clip, I tried to do it, specifically the eye concealer ones. I have sunken eyes and did the under eye tips. It really hides the lines and the area under my eyes looks great. Whaaat. Thanks for the tips ❤
