Today we are going to show why all CNC turning centers are not created equal by showing the challenges we overcame when making an 18” Cabriole Leg on a Legacy CNC machine.
These challenges include:
1. Combining multiple toolpath files that are generated from two different software programs.
2. Adding mortises onto an asymmetrical part without using other equipment.
3. Eliminating the cut marks and seam line left behind by raster carving and replacing it with a better cutting technique.
4. Optimizing the new technique to speed up the cutting time while keeping a smooth surface finish.
All the cutters used during this video were provided by our router bit manufacturer Magnate. You can visit their website at www.magnate.net.
We used Legacy's Conversational CAM Pro turning software and Vectric's Aspire CAD/CAM software to generate the g-code files for the CNC.
