Daniel Pitham he was with his mother at first, maybe until the age of 12. When he moved with his father his stepmother was actively involved in his upbringing. I think in this video he even said he went home and told his mom and dad.

It's actually crazy that a man who masterminded McLaren's success with Prost, Senna, Lauda and Hakkinen; said to a 10 year old promising "nobody" of the karting world to call him in 9 years' time about a McLaren contract - and the man stuck to his word. We all owe a lot to Ron Dennis for that decision to back a young Lewis, to the extent of him sticking a fresh out of GP2 rookie up against x2 WDC Fernando Alonso and fully backing him (rightly or wrongly) all season because he had THAT much faith in his ability. Even managing to win a title with him in only Lewis' second season. His dad may have been the backbone of Lewis' success story; but who knows whether or not his F1 journey would have materialised at all or been as successful had it not been for Ron. Now he's a 7 times world champion. Some story.

Getting your kid into a sport is what can build them whether they like the sport or not. I too didn't like him at first when he came into formula one and I didn't realize it was cause I had issues with the colour of his skin. I'm glad I came over it and now I admire how he grown up to be a proper world champ! I also love to see how spiritual he is and it clearly shows in interviews, well spoken. Wrong. Tiger is that good. Tiger just did not understand or chose to ignore the problems associated with the color line. Hamilton,like Serena in Tennis, has embraced it and that has been their animating fuel. That is why Hamilton like Serena in tennis has not been tripped up yet by the white racist crowd.

I mean to hear a kid this mature and articulate is really fascinating. To hear him speak about experiencing racism at that young age is heartbreaking. But to think he's still actually the same person all these years is even more unbelievable. Either power could have gotten to his heard and ended up doing drugs or he would have burned out completely. New f1 "fans" who only know him from Twitter manufactured rivalry could do themselves a favour and try to learn about who this man is.

Thank you Ron Dennis. Not enough credit has been shown to Ron for his contribution to F1 sporting life. Hamilton knows this. I hope Lewis will acknowledge Ron Dennis, when he secures the World Driver Championship for a historic fifth time. A true Fangio moment! Sir Ron Dennis is far overdue.

Well this clip was uploaded in 2007 so what has Lewis achieved since then 1. He has become a sir 2. 7 world titles equalling Schumacher he won them in 08,14,15,17,18,19,20 3.and he had smashed a load of records

I wouldn't hesitate to name him as one of the top three or four Grand Prix drivers of all time. Brilliance will always spawn detractors, but from my standpoint Lewis Hamilton has conducted himself excellently as a sportsman and a role model, shaking up his sport and forcing a new narrative. It's easy to roll our eyes at another Hamilton victory but we are experiencing an era of dominance akin to Fangio, Senna and Schumacher
