Interesting about Nevada rates. A lot of my coworkers in Northern California retired to Reno area. Have a relative considering it when they retire. Enjoy Utah, very beautiful desert parks!
As a health care provider in Las Vegas, I just want to add that you may have an affordable option in a MA plan but consider the network of doctors/availability of care when you are really sick. Can you actually get the care you need when you need it?
That's HOT! Amazing prices for A-plans in the cities. Time to get outta the heat! Maybe after your 48 state trip series you could do one for Alaska and Hawaii even though you didn't make it to them?
The original casino built in Las Vagas would have benefitted from the expertise of a financial person as there were considerable overages in money spent. Much like those considering choices in Medicare, it pays to discuss options and to know your numbers. Thanks for the great vids, The Retirement Nerds!
Thank you, Eric! I live in Las Vegas and this is the video for which I have been waiting. I started Medicare in January and decided to take a supplement plan N for $108 along with a drug plan at zero premium. However, Medicare advantage was incredibly tempting. I know you never really give advice on which plan a person should take, but if you lived in the state of Nevada and you were starting Medicare, would you honestly consider taking a Medicare advantage plan?
Hi Mark, thank you for watching and sharing your experience! I am quite neutral. The location is just 1 consideration when deciding between the 2. Nevada's plans - meaning Vegas and Reno - would make me consider them more strongly than most other places, but there are still other factors that come in like health, risk tolerance, HSA balances, financial picture, and which doctors I want to visit. I know it's still a middle of the road answer, but for most people, those other considerations play a big role in the decision.
The video I've been waiting for! Great to see we have the 2nd best in the country. I'm presuming there are no protections for those wanting Supplement plans who are under 65, as in other states cause you didn't mention it.
@@Theretirementnerds is still kinda excellent in that the Advantage plans are great, allowing me to use the network so I can see my specialist out of state. Just no Supplement plans, but I probably wouldn't have gone there anyway. Thanks again for the great content.
I've been to Las Vegas many times and it always amazes me the people who bring their small children there. You are correct -- it's not a great place to take kids. July is also a bad time to go there......🥵
I signed up in NV, picked Anthem G moved 3 years later to FL. Can I select another based on my birthday? Or am I stuck with Fl laws. My plan is higher than avg costs. Blue cross pays for my Anthem medical bills while in FL. Would another G plan be available to me near my birthday?
