Secondly, these victims were told that they were investing it, presumably hoping for generational wealth. Thus, thirdly, you seem to have a problem not with investing vs spending, but in how these people tried to create generational wealth. Fourthly, if everyone tried to create generational wealth the same way then; A. it would be less and less effective the more people did it, market economics 101 B. everyone would be investing exactly the same, removing all the utilities of creativity and diversity and finally, if you think you want to live in a world where all the smart people are free to scam all the stupid people, then I have some bad news for you, buddy. Hell, there's too many important skills for Int to be considered 'sucking' even in 5e. Arcana, Religion, History etc. are all skills that solves most issues any character runs across.

Liability insurance has always been a scam since its inception. The middleman's always existed and always profited off crowdfunding meant for others by skimming. A lot of things in history get romanticized, scams played even harder then than they do now.

Honestly I find it hard to believe that they actually managed to find a dead body in the pretty large forest. The suicide forest is known for having a lot of suicides that takes place there, it is not known as place you can just walk around and find a body especially near the entrance. Plus the bad acting in the video makes it seem like they are just pretending that theres a body, and Logan later just decided all publicity is good publicity given how he was already going around pissing a ton of people off.
