Hello Dr Sue, Had to take the time to say I REALLLLLY appreciate this video, today I received the news that my dog has Pulmonary Metastatic Disease (seeing a specialist next week). although I don't know the severity of the diagnosis just yet, this video has definitely help relieve some of the concern I have. Thanks again for all the great information THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF! ( I sure hope the consultation fee I'm paying is as informative as this one! )

Glad I found you video on metastatic lung cancer . My 12 yr old papillon was diagnosed in March . I like the idea of metronomic oral chemo idea. I was told not a candidate for palladia due to his ibd but it’s under control with prednisolone and has been doing great 4 weeks now but past 2 days lost his appetite again. I waiting for my oncologist to call to ask her about this metronomic oral chemo. Thank you for sharing I’m not ready to give up on him yet.

We just had to put down my beautiful pug this morning. She had metastatic lung cancer, and we had no idea until she started having trouble breathing last night.. she had a cancerous tumor removed from her hip in June... We didn't know it had moved to her lungs.the vet said, we could try oxygen but it was just prolonging her suffering and was basically suffocating, she said the humane thing was to put her down .. I still don't know if it was the right decision, I am glad she is out of pain, but I am regretting not getting a second opinion, but I don't even know if she would have survived another day to get another opinion. Her lungs were completely full, with the exception of two small air pockets.

I am currently experiencing this case. It really pains me to decide that I'll have my beloved Chewy put down by Next Monday, on her 9 years and 2 months mark of existing and being with me all throughout these 9 years.

Thank you so much. This video has been very informative. My baby girl of 10 years was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer last July and she has a large tumor in her lungs and on her anus. She just began coughing about 2 weeks ago. My vet prescribed her prednisone to slow the growth as well as pain meds and hydrocoetisone for the cough. Its hard to tell if she is lethatgic from the cancer or from the meds. Aome days she is herself and others not so much. My vet never offered me these options as she has pretty much lived her species's average life span. I just hope she goes peacefully. She is my best friend and life without her will surely never be whole.

Hi Ryan, I'm in the same position with my baby too. She was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer earlier this year. She is 7 years old. She has a tumor in her near her urethra. Her doctor also prescribed the same medications. The recent one that was added was for anxiety. She has her days like your baby. She's very lethargic or sometimes she is herself. It's really hard to tell if it is the medications. I hope your baby girl is doing better.

@@elliepuff10 Hey Ellie, sadly I had to put her down back on January 20. Her breathing had become so exhausting for her. She couldn't lay down comfortably, lost most of her appetite, and was very fatigued. I stayed with her thru her final moments knowing it would scar me for life, but I had to be there for her. She was the 2nd dog I had put down since May 1st of 2021. Both of cancer. She will let you know when she is ready to let go. I know it's awful watching her health decline. Don't hesitate to call the vet and ask for stronger meds too. I even took mine in a few weeks prior for a quality of life checkup and they said she still seemed ok but when the final symptoms started that she would decline rapidly and they were right.

@@ryang3666 I’m so sorry Ryan, you did the right thing though. My girl was diagnosed yesterday and I’m not sure. How everyone in these comments were able to hold out long even to even try chemo. My girl is struggling to breath and it’s breaking my heart. I’m thinking others might not be as advanced as her or something? Idk but my vet said nothing we can do, didn’t even offer meds except for some pain killer and anxiety med so I can bring her home and send off from here. Plus she’s 16 which makes this so much harder cause she’s my only child so I understand how you feel. We are all devastated. I’m not sure when you made your post here but I hope some of the pain has healed for you 💜💜

@@tacobelle69 I had her put down on January 20th. She was beginning to suffer and I couldn't bare to watch her go thru that. I am deeply sorry for you and your fur baby. These things are so so difficult to go thru and atleast for me, I dont think I will ever fully heal from it. My new fur baby Chloe has been so good thru it all with me and has really done a beautiful job filling that void. My only advice for you is to be there when they take their final breath on this earth. It's so sad to see people drop them off to be put down because emotionally they are too scared to see their loved one die in person. They deserve better than that. Best wishes, hang in there it gets better.

My dog had this, and the vet never mentioned chimochemotherapy for dogs he said she needed to be Euthanasia wich we did. I had the resources, but he said it would not save her. Now I have second thoughts.😪😪

Thank you so much Dr. Sue, your videos has helped me a lot ! I´m a vet student and I´m preparing for my NAVLE board exam. I have a doubt about metastatic lung cancer, I hope you can help me with that. Why is not use the classical chemo like in primary lung tumors? It´s due to their aggressive? Thank you so much again! Cheers

Hi Doctor, Is biopsy required (strong suspicion on secondary lung cancer on Italian Greyhound. 10 years old. Female)? or Metronomic chemo may be prescribed without the biopsy and based on X-Ray images? The strong concern is that the dog may not wake up after anesthesia during biopsy procedure.

Does this also apply to advanced metastatic cancer. Nodules in lung capacity pressing against lungs
