Hi guitarists, I'm Alessandro Bianchi, welcome to ShapeYourTone! 🔥
In today's video I talk to you about a guitar that has been with me for 10 years! It's not just any guitar though, it's a Harley Benton, and this gives me the chance to talk about an interesting topic, that is: do Harley Benton guitars last over time or are they toys? 🧐
Mine, purchased for €90 in 2014, has some signs due to age and use obviously, but in terms of structure and sound?
For the occasion I ordered the new model of the same guitar on @ThomannMusic to also make a comparison, see how the guitar has evolved over the years and understand if it sounds different or is everything identical to 10 years ago. 🎉
There are some new features, structural and sound, in fact even the pickups have changed on the same guitar but in the new model.
The old guitar model had Wilkinson pickups, while the new one has Roswells which sound slightly different, a little brighter and less mid-range.
Obviously aesthetically the new one is more beautiful, but my electric guitar from 10 years ago is still captivating!
All in all, after 10 years of travel, concerts, distractions, modifications and lots of playing, with the right care for the guitar and above all attention, any guitar can last over time.
