To be fluent in the German language is not not that important for Immigrants are or coming to Germany... What is important that the immigrant can read and write in his own language and willing to learn German and willing to intergrate in to the German society and culture... and is a competent and experienced tradesmen or woman. We all know that is not the reality with 99.9 % of imigrands who coming from Africa and Islamic countries......

Im currently self studying German and my first language is English. I think its alot easier since to learn as I spoke english first. I love German and studied it in highschool for 2 years then i kind of gave up for 5 years or more the got back into it I just want to be able to watch movies that have German in it or some German and read it etc. Germany is a big country in the modern world. It can be really fun and enjoyable and still useful even in an English sppeaking country if you wanna read or watch or go to restaraunts.

Hi! Thank you so much for this video! I am a high school student and I am currently under a lot of pressure for choosing my college. I really wish to proceed with my education in a medical school in Germany even though the language requirement is at least C1 (Ich habe mich fur die deutsche Abitur entscheidet wo die Niveau B1 ist) Is it even possible for me to learn the language on a C1 level on time? Thanks!

6 months... I don't think so. I've been learning for 5 months actively and am still on A1. So either I am too demanding, or you are just aiming to pass the test. That is not the real world. I can probably pass the A2 test, but in the real world I would not get anywhere.

Do you do enough listening input? That's how you absorb the language.
@alitopedits
@alitopedits Год назад
When learning any new language, try to think in the language asap. No one hears your thoughts, you'll get fluent much faster without embarrassment Also think with a good accent in the language this will automatically fix your accent as well
@SmarterGermanBerlin
@SmarterGermanBerlin Год назад
And how do you think in German when you don’t know many words nor structures yet and how do you know you are thinking in a good accent?
@alitopedits
@alitopedits Год назад
@@SmarterGermanBerlin that's exactly the point, when you try to think but can't because you don't know enough words, you then go look up those words and their pronunciation, and try to memorize and use them but it's all in your head, so no one hears you, so no embarrassment. The first month or two will be horribly difficult but you will get better rapidly. This is exactly what i did.

Danke Michael für dieses Video. Ich habe drei Fragen für Sie. Es tut mir leid, dass ich jetzt auf Englisch umschalten muss. First, what is your opinion about classes at the Goethe Insitut. I live near Chicago and I could attend a class there. Second, I would also like to purchase your self learning materials. I am probably at an A1-A2 level now, do you go beyond B2? Third, how important is correct pronunciation and grammar to how a German would rate your fluency? For example, I watched a video of a 90 year old Swiss woman taking about health. even though she was speaking German, the pronunciation was different than my study material. Perhaps it is a dialect difference or her age? When I took German in high school, Hochdeutsch was taught only.
@stevet6676
@stevet6676 7 лет назад
Danke für die Antwort. Rather than use poor German, I will answer mostly in English. I am recently retired, and have been using duolingo for about 8 months. I completed the "tree" and they say I am 50% fluent, but Ich denke nicht. Ich studiere etwa dreißig Minuten am Tag. I have some experience traveling to Germany for work von 1985 bis 1997. Everyone there spoke English since it was the main office for Europe and North America. Here is a link to the company: www.agilent.com/home# . I have fond memories of Germany, so that is part of my motivation. I also listen to youtube videos, like yours. I generally do work best by following my own course of study. I take notes and review them at least once a week. I also recently purchased the book "Jen and Jacob". I probably could pass the A1 exam. I would be happy to follow your recommendations.

@dannylojkovic5205
@dannylojkovic5205 4 года назад
I have been using Duolingo to learn German about a year now, and am now at B1. For a higher education course, you’d need a C1 level to get by (that’s what many European universities require for studies done in English). C2 would likely not be necessary, and you would reach that level though your coursework. C1= you can read complex materials and understand it (to put it simply). C2= you can use the proper vocabulary for your specific profession. A lawyer would need to be C2 for law based reasoning, but they may not understand the exact meaning of a lot of words that are affiliated with computer science or military intelligence (for example). I see C2 as a level you need to reach to perform a very complex job. Your courses will most likely be taught at around the B2 level, but you’ll need a C1 level to do your readings. I’m no expert, this is just what I have gathered from what I have read on the CEFR according to linguists. Best of luck!

I can’t recommend and in person school due to the many disadvantages of Rhodes’s you’d be slowing down your learning unnecessarily by choosing such an approach. Schools are okay if what you are looking for is meeting other expats and have some company but for your German it’s detrimental. I worked in quite a few different schools over the years and they were all lovely people but simply inefficient, ineffective and far too costly when compared to properly designed online courses. I’m not talking of babble or duolingo here. Why do you think you need an in person school?
