I’m 29. First stone at 25 i had no idea what it was, I was single at the time and had nobody to assist me. Honestly thought maybe my appendix burst. I guess I had a 4mm stone (mine are super jagged sharp and go in all directions) I cried. I was scared. It sucked. Docs said I had a couple more. But I was no longer in pain once it passed and that’s all I cared about. Well here we are 4 years later. DUN DUN DUN. Last month 3mm by 6mm came out pain lasted 1-3 hours not too bad. And now… as I’m typing this I have been going on 3 weeks now of non stop every few minutes or hours stone pain in my groin and inner thigh and all over. All I can think is those old stones are wanting to come down but are struggling bad. (I have 3 in left kidney largest is 3mm and 1 in right kidney smaller than 1mm) to my fellow humans I am so sorry if your hurting reading this. I am right there with you. All I can suggest is at night take 1-2 Tylenol PM drink 2 glasses of water and remember it’s temporary. To those experiencing it alone, we are all here! And in 1 month you’ll be back to normal! Take care y’all. And take of ourselves!

Thank you for your comment. I have severe pain in my vagina especially when I’m urinating. It feels like something sharp is about to come out. I’m only two weeks in and I feel like I can’t take it anymore. Does it really take a month? I’m miserable.

Thanks for this post. I just found out I have one last Saturday (first one ever and hopefully last). 5mm in my right Kidney. I would rather have full blown Covid 19 (original strain, which I did have 2 years ago, lasted 2 weeks and was miserable) than have what I have now. I have been drinking 2000ml of water a day mixing some of it with 1/2 cup of lemon juice to help break it up. Started eating some oranges as well. This is the most painful thing I have ever had.

Did you ever have pain after you passed a stone? I passed my first today at 46, they said it was 4mm but its actually thorn shaped and 7mm from tip to tip (its triangular) and scratched me on the way out, now it hurts like I am sliced up a little inside. Ever have anything similar? Not a lot of info or videos about after damage. Thanks for sharing!

@@braindesigns7021 yes! Hurts for about a couple days . Doctors really don’t know shit. Especially if they haven’t had one personally. They claim oh you have no pain receptors blah blah. Bottom line is you are passing. Jagged rock through a 3mm tube. Much like a cut on your hand it’s going to burn for a few days especially when you put soap or salt. It’s the same with our lower region! Drink plenty of water and juice keep up on your immune system. If I made it you will def make it! Much love this is a pain I never want anyone to experience.

Had my first stone at 18. I would have at least 10 a year until I turned 40. My urologist was doing a CT scan on my back and went a bit high. The tech stuck her head out and asked if I ever had thyroid problems. What's a thyroid??😂😂 3 months later thyroid and parathyroid were removed. Approximately 1 year later my stones stopped forming!!

I have medullary sponge kidneys. I’ve passed many stones, largest was 6 mm. 7 mm was removed via laser lithotripsy. Currently have a 6x8 mm stuck at the UVJ I’ve been trying to pass now for 2 weeks. Passing blood and leukocytes. Lithotripsy scheduled next week. My right kidney has a 9 mm. I begged the doc to consider shockwave for the larger stones. As a dialysis nurse I really don’t want to jeopardize my kidney function!

This video I’m saving for sure because you have just helped me a lot!! I’ve had kidney stones at least 4 times in my life but was able to pass them thank god, except 2 years ago I had two, one in each kidney and had to have the laser surgery to remove them. Now here we are two years later and I have them again!! But what really helped me with this video is that this time my testicles have been hurting and I couldn’t figure out why but you explained that in this video so thank you.

Excellent information! I’ve had my first stone that was surgically removed as a teenager. One in my early 30’s that passed with minor pain. Last one a couple years ago I passed and it was a big one 10mmx5mm while at home. It was by far the worst pain and it took about three weeks until it passed. Immediately afterward I felt so much better. I greatly appreciate the info provided today to learn more about stones. My first one was tested and was calcium type. I’m trying to watch my sodium now and you’ve explained yet another reason for me to do so. Happy New Year 🎊

Fixing to pass a 5mm one myself. Doctor said 1mm bigger and theyd have to extract it. Ive had 6 of these in my life. 1 other one hurt a bit. This one is the worst pain ive ever felt. As we speak its 3 weeks into dealing with it. Week one was a red hot spear into the kidney. Now its close to or in the bladder, i cant tell. The groin pain stopped and now it feels stabby. I am dreading passing this one.

I’ve passed over 55 stones since 1991 and have gotten such conflicting information over the years from 7 different urologists. First it was no dairy foods. Then a year later, eat yogurt, cheese and all dairy products. Have had multiple lithotripsy and cystoscopies. All stones have been calcium oxalate. Last stone I passed in the hospital was 9 mm. Then the hospital discharged me and within a day I developed sepsis and it was dicey for a week at another hospital. Take care of yourself and don’t fool around with kidney stones. Get a good Urologist!

My roommate who was older than me, told me: you just passed a kidney stone. They made me take the bus to another base. But i remember having to walk super slow for a few days.

We know some of the infos are already somewhere, however when you take a small portion to make a video and RU-vid got us notified about it, it serves us greatly as a reminder or a get to know for a better prevention that can save many lives. I have a few questions about kidney stones: 1- What are the sides effects for different procedures to get rid of kidney stones? 2- If a parent had kidney stones, do you think the risk for kids to have it is higher? 3- If a kidney stone just got broken, how long for a next one to form? 4- Can kidney stones kill people? 5- Can kidney stones make the kidney failure?

You have a gift of understatement regarding pain.... I had a 6mm stone and the pain was a whole new level of pain! The kind of pain that NOTHING helps. You roll back and forth in horrific pain with no relief. And in the ER they had to give me very powerful opioids.

I've had three episodes of stones so far. The first episode was confusing as I was initially getting the sensation of passing razor blades after using the toilet, after 10 days or so the extreme pain started. That stone was removed by surgery (grab and remove). The second episode was a 4mm stone that required surgical removal and a stent in the ureter afterwards. The third time was a smaller stone that passed after a few days. My comment about my kidneys is that they are trying to excrete a gravel driveway, one stone at a time... Thanks for your channel, it a very useful source of information. :)

I had one stone started at 7mm, 10/10/2010, originally left the kidney, a year later I thought a second stone 1/4 way down the tube, a year later 3/4 way down towards the bladder. about a year later it was stalled near the bladder. All four times pain beyond relief, all four time went to the emergency room. Only on the last time did the ER Doctor figure it was the same stone slowly sliding down the tube from the Kidney to the Bladder. The next day a camera, laser and basket was shoved in and located, blasted and grabbed. The first urination was like shooting sand from a shotgun. It's been 7 years and I've been pain free, stone free.

Having had a large kidney stone about 5 years ago I can agree with most of what is stated here, but also disagree with some as well. I received ultrasound treatment on my kidney stone as it was determined that it was too large to pass (after an x-ray scan), at that point I'd just been managing the pain with large doses of pain killers for about a month. The ultrasound roughly smashed the stone in half (pulverising half of it, which I passed later that day), half remained and slowly worked it's way down. This followed an approximate cycle of every two weeks I would have to manage the pain for 2 or 3 days. This continued for the next 4 months (so I wish it had only taken 40 days!) until I finally passed the stone in approximately 30 seconds of the second worst physical pain I have ever felt (the top spot on that list was the first day the stone left the kidney). Ironically, this was only a few days before I was scheduled for a second session of ultrasound treatment (which they should have given me much earlier, but no-one was aware that I'd only had one). One of the comments in the video I feel I would disagree with is the drinking of lots of fluids while trying to pass a stone. It's certainly good advice if the stone is small, but it can cause increased pain, pressure and complications if the stone is large and obstructing the ureter almost completely (depending on shape). So that advice I would say is on a case by case basis. In my particular case, the remainder of the stone was an irregular shape which made it painful when it moved, but it didn't seem to obstruct the flow of urine to the bladder significantly. Finally I would just like to express my sympathies to anyone who has to go through this - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy ;-)

Unfortunately that wasn't my biggest problem after a CT scan. I have a very large cyst or something in my kidney. Weird thing is I drink a lot of water. I eat healthy. I don't eat fried foods. The ureter is 4mm in diameter. Any stone above 4mm probably won't pass because it's too big. I should also point out, the larger the stone the better. Weird to say, I know. But as someone who had a 6mm stone, the pain was unbearable because it was small enough to move around. I currently have a 10mm stone and the pain is non-existent because it's stuck and I only feel cramping in the flank when I exercise.

@@erichaugen8411 well, when I got the stone, I went to the ER for the pain and they gave me a strainer to pee with. It was meant to catch the stone, so it could be tested at a lab and see what it was made of to cut certain foods and drinks out of the diet. I felt the relief as soon as it came out of me, which gave me a clue the stone passed.
