We were with the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said: Whoever is able to do so, let him get married, for it will lower the gaze and protect one’s chastity, and whoever is not able to do so should fast, for it is his and his fulfillment.
Narrator: Abdullah bin Masoud | Updated: Al-Bukhari
Islam is a tolerant, Hanifi religion. It takes into account human nature, and creates the correct paths for his needs and the treatment for his problems. He did not ask the Muslim to suppress his instincts and desires, and at the same time he did not give his desires free rein, so that he could graze like animals without any control or supervision.
In this hadith, the follower Alqamah bin Qais Al-Nakha’i tells that he was with the companion Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him, walking in Mina, as in the narration of Abu Dawud, and Mina: a valley near the Mosque of Mecca, where pilgrims descend to spend the night on the Day of Tarwiyah and the days of Tashreeq, and throw stones in it, so he met him. Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, and Othman, may God be pleased with him, said: “O Abu Abdul Rahman,” which is the nickname of Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him, “I have a need for you, so be alone,” meaning: He wants to talk to him, so they moved away together in a place where there was no room for him. There will be a third, then Othman, may God be pleased with him, offered to Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, to marry him to a virgin, a woman who had never been married, and he justified that by saying: “You remember as long as you promise,” meaning what was of his strength and activity. It was said: He was only offered to him. Othman, may God be pleased with him, said: When he saw his austerity and shabby appearance, he attributed this to his loss of the wife who entertained him. When Abdullah, may God be pleased with him, saw that he had no need for marriage, or that he, may God be pleased with him, when he saw that the talk between them had ended, and that Othman, may God be pleased with him, saw that he had no need for marriage. He had no need for anything other than his talk about marrying him, and there was no secret conversation left between them. He invited Alqamah to sit with them, and Alqamah came and stood with him.
Then Abdullah, may God be pleased with him, continued his talk with Othman, may God be pleased with him, and cited for him a hadith from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, suitable for reminding Uthman and his proposal of marriage to Abdullah, in which the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, urged the young men and ordered them to hasten the marriage, where he said, calling Young men, and specifically addressed to them - because the predominant strength of desire is in young men, and they suspect lust for women, and they often do not abstain from it, unlike other elderly people -: “Whoever of you can afford it, let him marry,” and “baa” is one of the names of intercourse, or what is meant by it is the provisions of marriage. That is: whoever is able to marry, and finds the means and provisions, let him marry; There is no monasticism in Islam, and in the narration of the two Sahih books: “For it lowers the gaze and protects chastity,” so he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, explained that marriage is more helpful for a person to lower his gaze, protects the eyes of the married person from what is forbidden, and is more protective of chastity. When he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, knew that not every young man had what he could with which to get married, he mentioned to his nation the treatment for that, and he said: “And whoever is not able, then he should fast; For it is for Him and it came.” This means that whoever does not have the provisions for marriage should commit to fasting. It prevents desires, averts them, and interrupts their evil, as is done by waja, which is striking the testicles with a stone or the like to cut off the desire for the penis. It is called fasting and it came. Because it does its job and takes its place in breaking desire, and whoever is accustomed to fasting, his desire will be calmed; The desire for marriage is subordin
