Hello! I know you spoke about Literary Fiction being between 80k-120k. However, the book A Little Life is I believe 180k and that falls under the category of Literary Fiction. Would you be able to confirm how the author managed to surpass the guideline? Thanks.
Science-fiction is a big genre, some of the books are really big a bit like Adult fantasy, because usually people like the world building aspect of science fiction and world building takes times. Thx, from france.

I'm a young writer in the beginnings of my first novel (yay!) genre is ya fantasy. Based on how long my chapters are and how far I am through the plot it looks like the word count will be around 50,000-60,000 words which is kind of short. Although I am not concerned about publishing (my writing skills are far from it, i write as a hobby) I would like to get the word count around 80,000-90,000 words. What are you recommendations to make the book longer? I am planning on going back and adding more details about lifestyle, setting descirption and fleshing out transitions, however I don't think it will significantly add to word count. I just don't want to add any unneccssary and boring scenes that disengage the reader.

Anywho, I actually didnt know, the works are classified by wordcount o.O Which means all the messages and fanfictions i have written in the past were... Flash Fiction. Interesting. Now I also know, why the book I wrote my A-Levels about was called a Novella :D
Would the 100,000 word count rule apply when querying agents for an epic fantasy novel if its your first ever novel? Thanks for the vid. I've heard of not tying to query over 100,000 if you can but what about in the epic fantasy genre?
Im writing my debut books. Its a fantasy novelette and im almost done with its final draft. Its word count is currently 23415. For double spaced that equals 96.7 pages. But when I found out the industry standard for books is SINGLE spaced I checked it out and that brought my page count down to 58.8 pages. This really pissed me off because I wanted my book to be anywhere in 100 to 200 page range at least. I mean thats already much shorter than I originally envisioned. My word count has to be at least 39840 to be 100 pages. That means I need like 16425 more words.
ugh they are bots 😑 im still not sure what the point of them is but they always target new videos and post super fast on them...I see them on a lot of small-medium channels like mine.
