In this video I compare the sound level of a ‪@PwnCNC‬ spindle compared to a Makita trim router.

I’d like to see the noise level comparison while actually doing a profile cut.

I think the sound being produced by the bit spinning at the same rpm traveling at the same speed through a given material would be identical regardless of what is turning it so that’s why I didn’t record it cutting Hope that makes sense

I get that but my Makita is significantly louder when cutting. It’s loud enough when not cutting! Would just be interested in the db comparison under load since I don’t know anyone who runs their machine for more than a few seconds without cutting.

Hey Vernon! Great stuff! As you know, I too have a Makita Router on my Longmills. It has been my hope to someday getting a spindle for both the MK1 and the MK2 in my shop. As you know my shop is in my basement so noise has always been an issue. Thank you so much for sharing this info! Oh! I can't wait to hear all about those 1/2" shank bits you will now get the benefit of using!

Great video Vernon!! We will be linking this a LOT to answer the question "How loud is a spindle compared to a router"? We get that question several times every week sometimes several times a day at PwnCNC support.

Thanks again sir Without you and PWNCNC providing the spindle this video wouldn’t have happened for quite a while THANK YOU AND PWNCNC AGAIN!!

Nice! And it looks like you got a 1/2" instead of the 1/4". If my spindle goes out I'll for sure move to the larger spindle.

Yes it will accept 1/8 1/4 1/2 bits

Hi, I just came across Desktop CNC 2 days ago and I'm thrilled. I'm currently thinking about buying a milling machine, but I have serious concerns about the noise. 60dB at idle sounds very good. How does the volume behave when the machine is milling wood?
@Hinkleshop

When the bit is cutting there is a considerable amount of unavoidable noise but still much less than with the addition of a traditional router

Can't wait to receive my new spindle. Question, where did you get that Allen key set?
@Hinkleshop

Thanks for watching the Allen. Keys came from Harbor freight.

Less noise means a better machine, generally speaking.

I#d love to know why spindles are so much quieter as I would like to McGuyver my planer thicknesser so I can take off the ear defenders.

Hi , Need a recommendation for a spindle motor for my later Shapeoko 3 to replace loud makita trim screamer, with no programming
@Hinkleshop
@Hinkleshop 8 месяцев назад
Hello Ryan I used a Makita screamer for years, so I know your pain. I am absolutely satisfied and pleases with my PWNCNC spindle. It is the 115-volt unit I was unaware of the ability to operate the variable drive manually until I received it. Using it that way is very similar to how you use the Makita except you have the added benefit of rpm control and super noise reduction. I have added a link in the description to PWNCNC to help you find them.

What RPM is the PWNCNC running at? I didn't see you check that.

Sorry Paul you’re right I forgot to put the camera on the drive display But, the spindle was running at the same rpm as the makita To make sure the test was fair and accurate

Is the Spindle air cooled or water cooled. Great Video.
