At work I used to talk about Giannis and Luka when Giannis was very young and Luka was playing for Real Madrid. Luka was also killing it for his national team. I was laughed at. My predictions were Giannis will be a superstar. You can see he was getting better and better and he had this work ethnic within him. Along with that, he had an interesting backstory and he wanted his family with him and to help them get out of poverty. They said I'm stupid. When it came to Luka, he just looked amazing as a kid dominating Europe. You could tell he was up for bigger and better things. He had the size and skill to play in the NBA. Once more, they laughed at me. Well, some years have passed. How are Giannis and Luka doing now?
I have been a Luka fan ever since his euro league days, this is one of the best short docu's i have ever seen and its crazy to think hes still in his 5th season. Keep up the great content man
yeah if it was not for the pronounciation of Dončić, so,for yall americans that still cannot pronouce his last name i'll make it simple, its Doncheech. You know, like Cheech and Chong? There ya go
Eurobasketball is about ball movement on and off the ball, with how basketball played on the US Luka changed his playstyle and became the center in every play. He needed a coach that generates a plays that revolves in ball movement, passing, and off-ball movement rather than iso. I really hoped this next season have a big change because scoring is easy when you have Luka and Kyrie on your roster, it's just comes down to how to use your every players efficiently.
The Mavs play that offense because of their personnel. Luka doesn't always play that way on Slovenia. When your team's best weapon is clearly Luka's iso and playmaking from it, why the F would you bother putting the ball into someone else's hands (when they're clearly not as good)? They want to win. They don't want to win brownie points for "moving the ball" or "moving without the ball". F all that. Do what gives you wins. Don't you think a professional basketball team coached by one of the highest BBIQ point guards of all time ever got the idea of playing movement-centric ball? You know? Like the back to back Finals Nets played at the time? The issue is with personnel. Playing like the 02-03 Nets doesn't fit this squad. Playing like the Nash Suns, but slower and more deliberate fits this current team.
with PJ washington and D Gafford added, we can see that Mavs are clearly starting to let Luka play ball more rather than focus on iso ball. They are giving him good pieces that he can work with now, a good Center and a good Power forward. The game 5 against Clips where they washed them by 30 pts shows that they are trying to play much faster and Luka is trying to improve his pace, and involve his teammates more.
I like you kid!!! All the elements of a great sports documentary. Comprehensive, well presented, well spoken, compelling tone....etc. Objective and unbiased (other than your obvious love of sport), you keep the viewer's attention. Keep it up. this is sports journalism! Don't emulate anyone else's style. Can''t compliment you enough.
the americans still dont get how this works... luka went to madrid at 13 and went to school there. he was part of the real madrid academy. they sign you there as a young prospect and then they hope to develop you into a pro player(while a player simultaneously goes to school). and at 16 he was good enough to play a couple games with the first team. what every documentary fails to show is that at 16 when he entered his first pro game he scored a 3 pointer with his first touch of the ball. almost like a prophecy.
Okay luka is amazing he’s still quite literally the only guy to figure this out from jump. Even Wemby is struggling to adjust to the learning curve. For every Luka there’s a million European guys even from Madrid who didn’t play to a level where you can take a risk
Vlade Divac will never live down not taking Luka Doncic in the draft for Sacramento. As a former European player, he should have known. Dallas is happy he didn't take Luka.
Vlade had a bad blood relationship with Lukas father Sasa for 20 some years, thats why he didint pick him, and thats why Serbia didnt chase Luka to play for us, cuz at that time Vlade was a bassketball operations president for national bassketball association. its amazing what you can lose just cuz of your stupid arrogance and pride.
@@TheNemChaa By not taking Luka, Vlade changed the future of the franchise for at least a dozen years for the worse. It's not like Vlade didn't know how good Luka was at the time.
Love seeing LuKai dominate the league this 10 games even tho they had pretty easy matchups they seem to have found their chemistry and all the players fulfill their role
I really appreciate this video.. Im a huge doncic fan and he doesnt get enough love but you took care of that.. thank you brother.. imagine dirk and luka together.. would be filthy
@@Geneknowshoops You know, I can't believe how much effort and time you put into a video like this, but you didn't type in the translator how to pronounce Dončić and Divac? I didn't watch many videos because of that. Along with Jokić and other ex-Yugoslavia players, they have become stars in the NBA and the whole world, and the least they deserve is that their surnames are pronounced correctly. Luka's father is Sasha, their last name is Dončić and the pronunciation is Donchić.
Actually, Luka was already a Hall of Famer at 19. It's Basketball, not NBA Hall of Fame and this dude has won so much shit in European basketall, he could've retired at 19 instead of getting drafted and still end up HOFer.
Phenomenal video, brother. Really, really well done. The fact that you’re at 3k subs is a crime against humanity, but you’ll blow up if you keep making videos like this.
This video was done great!! I’ve always been a die hard laker fan and Kobe is my jordan but for the first time my favorite player is not on my team. Luka is most def my favorite player and he’s only getting started
I remember watching this video when you first released it and i said to myself this video will be pure gold when the world starts noticing Luka. I came back here after his peformance on xmas day. I think luka reminded people again. He was chosen to p;ay this game, you can tell from his parents and coaches comments on him as a kid. I have no doubt about it, he will end up beng the G.O.A.T. He gives me alot of the vibes i got when i started watching Messi even at 17 years.(Luka converted me fully to basketball after his peformance against the clippers). Honestly coming from watching messi to this. I feel blessed.
Awsome documentary man ! You know what you are talking about and the sequences are perfectly put together ! I used to like ginoblli back in the day but yeah Doncic is special ! Thank you for putting this together perfect. Poetry in motion !
My first basketball match at the stadium was that match between Real and CSKA, and on god a hated this guy so much. But at that exact time I fell in love with his play from than and forever
Luka controls the pace of the game like no other player and people please stop comparing him to Larry Bird, their games are so different, not every white dude is Larry Bird , he is unique and now he gunning for MVP
Hey Gene, I found your channel through this video. You're possess the voice that will enhance my NBA knowledge. Subbed and liked. Thanks for making some absolutely fantastic content!!! From England! 🏀🇬🇧
@Geneknowshoops I'm planning on starting a basketball channel. I've made quite a few gaming videos on my channel, but I got bored of chatting about games. Don't think I could ever be bored of basketball. Maybe one day you could give me a few pointers and maybe do a collab video.
Incredible video. You make great content and you make me wanna make videos. Respect to you in all regards. That being said wtf is the last couple minutes of black screen; it makes no sense to me and I am so confused XD
Luka is the biggest no brainer #1 pick since LeBron, but he didn't even go 1st. I am 100% convinced that his apperance was the biggest contributing factor.
Yes, he'll go down as an all time great, but unfortunately even if he wins 15 rings they'll never pick him over LeBron or Jordan as the goat, there's alot of under the radar racism in NBA
So,. Lebron is his guy,.. and he had to join a few Superteams to get his rings.., and it took him a few years of struggles in Cleveland before he got to that point as well. I hope Doncic does get a ring or two!
