Thanks for explaining this. FYI: A slightly better mic, would make for a MUCH better video.

Could a magnetometer be used to help calibrate the gyroscope, to prevent the gyroscope from drifting? Btw, how is gyroscope drift caused?

Everything was nicely explained except it's not clear how the orientation is estimated from this - 1) How does rotating an object lead to reduction/increase in magnetic field ? 2) How would the resulting increase/decrease in velocity give the orientation. Although I do follow it intuitively, an explanation for the last bit would have made your video complete. Nevertheless, nice explanation. Thanks!

+malhar jajoo Thanks for your feedback. Glad you liked the explanation. 1) No object is rotated to increase or decrease the magnetic field. Increasing or decreasing the magnetic field affects the force acting on the travelling charged particles, in this case the electrons. As the magnitude of force changes, the path of electrons also shifts a little. This gives rise to a voltage difference whose direction is perpendicular to the travel path of electrons and the also perpendicular to the direction of magnetic field. 2) Generally, magnetometers are placed in such a manner that they sense readings for magnetic field in all the 3 directions, i.e x axis, y axis, z axis. From the readings of magnetic field in these 3 directions, the net magnetic field and its direction is calculated using vector addition on the three readings. Hope the explanation helps you clear the doubts :) If still any doubt, feel free to comment below.

Helo my dea. We have a problem about G 856 AX proton magnetometr. Can you help to us ? We have bought G 856 AX proton magnetometr from foreign contry since 2014 . We used it only one year. When we used the magnetometr was working. Durin 2 years we didin t use it . When we wanted to use it that time magnetometr didn t work. The number of the magnetometr was mixed. We only saw 777777 and 111111 on the screen and we heard bip. Bip. How can heal to us. Can we solve a problem ourselves.

Good video, very well explained. Instead of using the term electrons, you should say charged particle. It will allow you to avoid the need for explanation of why electron flow and current is shown in the same direction. Thumbs up nonetheless, 3 and a half minutes and I have all the information I need about magnetometers.
