Thank you so much for this video. My wife was going to sell all my expensive dress shirts in her yard sale. I found your video and it saved me tons of money buying Pau Frederick dress shirts all over again. I did the tailoring and my wife did the sewing and adding the buttons

Wow, what a wonderful demonstration. My husband's dress shirts are in need of this exact adjustment, probably from the chest on down. Thanks a bunch!

I just altered a XXL men's shirt to a shirtdress for myself but messed up and made it a skootch too small. I didn't have quite the extra fabric in the placket you did but your method worked! Now it's perfect!

Thank you so much for this, you have no idea how happy I am to have found this site. I have a dress blouse that is about that much to tight and I didn’t want to put a gusset in the back or sides, it just would not have worked for this blouse, this way totally would though and I love all the steps that you took to make it look so professional. Great job, thank you so very much. You helped to save my problem. I’m sure glad that I found this!!!!!!!! ❤️👍🏼😎🫣

How smart! It saves a few good dress shirts of my teen son who gain some weight recently.Since he is growing every day, I’d love to use this idea to recycle his still decent but a bit tight shirts. Thanks for sharing your skill!

Thank you for showing this👍, my DH has gained weight due to medication, most of his shirts are too tight around the belly. So I did it and it looks great, I created almost 2” extra space. 🎉

Brilliant, at first I thought " oh no, the stripes will be off" ..... but it's only on the edge under the facing placket ... no problem.

yay! I'm taking my father's cool shirts that he no longer wears but they are just ever so slightly tight that when I sit I'm afraid of a button popping. I had this idea but wanted to see a video of someone else trying it to see if it worked how I thought it would and ur the only video to show it. Glad I found this, can't wait to do this alterations.

Not a bad idea. I will of course mean tht al the extra room is on one side and the placket will run diagonally out towards the left hip. Maybe best reserved for shirts without stripes so it isn't as obvious

That's genius! There's one thing though which I don't quite understand. From the video it looked like you only took in from the button side of the placket, which makes sense, because the holes wouldn't really let that happen on the other side. On the other hand, wouldn't this offset the lines of the shirt? Or is one inch not that much to worry about when it comes to where the side seams run on either sides? Note that I'm not in any way a taylor, just like classic style and actually have a few shirts which I would be very happy if it would be possible to do with.

I think you are right but in my opinion if you wear your shirt tack in the pants it doesn't matter

I know this question is about otherwise but I have two questions. Hi can you please tell me if the pad stitch on a lapel is permanent or is pulled out before the completion of the jacket? Does the pad stitch on the bottom piece of the lapel show on the back of the right side when the jacket is finished?
@AspiringGent

It does stay in the jacket!

I love this way to upsize a shirt. I just think it would bother me, that the stripes are now not straight anymore, since it's not let out from the full top but instead at the chest area. But for other prints or uni colored fabrics it would be the perfect solution. 😊

Ayo your channel trailer has a typo. " being some life into this dying art of tailoring" (I'll delete the comment if you get it fixed, I just figured you should know)

Question, is there a reason why not to sew buttons on before folding back placket, so to hide the button stitches?
