Do one next on managers that try to get employees to due tasks that's outside their job description/employee contract. "Do as I say, not what I don't do looking lame ass managers."😂
Hi! I saw a guy that looks so much like you at Acme Friday...I was like, "you look like Killa Kay...he smiled and said, nope that's not me. Lol. 🥰😄🥰✌️❤️💯
Facts!! I screenshot every time I have to put it in, but if I have time, I HAVE TIME!! a supervisor of mine approved 2 days before my flight! Okay bby, I was catching my flight anyway because of stuff like that. I put in my time 8wks ago
Fr. Managers always leave on time, take two week vacations like clockwork, and still come back complaining about production. But heaven forbid an employee asks for time off
The "you sound fine to me" hit home. I had a supervisor say that to me when I was calling out with a respiratory infection years ago. Then he said to get my ass in to work or go to the doctor. Obviously I went to the doctor because our contract states management has to pay for a doctor visit if they request it and we're out 3 days or less. I took my 3 days, went back to work and handed him the bill. He was pissed, but had to pay it. They never learn. 😂
what the fukc is it with managers denying PTO employees have accrued for working all these hours scheduled by his stupid wig 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣managers treat PTO as if it was his own kids asking permission to go out and play
True, when I was team lead, my manager had to check if I was checking requests accordingly and especially taking TIME (few days he said) to approve or decline them. Had to tell him I won’t do it this way personally, why should I take days to do something that take literally seconds to do. Like people whether you say yes or no if it’s urgent they will still take their time off to do their stuffs, better approving asap after checking accordingly so that everybody can move on 😒 his explanation was so absurd I understood he defo had an ego issue and thought he had some kind of power on people’s life… EWW
i used to work at tesco its (supermarket in the uk) manager was always a prick never approved holidays etc always bs you have be on his case i went to head office , got the union ,employment lawyer involved we was going go on strike if they didn't fire him. or better system things changed real quick
Character development and lore is so good at this point that two seconds into the video I'm thinking "God damn Jeff is back and on his bullshit again" and I forget that it's all one dude doing all the characters.
@@cecemoon1208 that's ridiculous 😡 you're a horrible manager. A happy employee means a hyper employee meaning they will just talk instead of work. Me personally I only approve PTO if a funeral is involved. But I never allow more than 3 days (if they're lucky).... Lmao just kidding
@@cecemoon1208 i mean we all gotta work but family comes first. Iv always been a decent employee where I would give managers advance notice on certain days I wouldn't be able to come in. Especially if its important.
A buddy of mine I used to work with once told me about how his mom was sick and he had asked for time off to be with her and he was young at the time, so he was afraid of losing his job when he asked they denied him and she ended up passing. He never forgave that manager. He passed away a couple years ago I hope he got to see his mom again 🙏🏾.
Perfect😂 I remember one time, we had 2ft of snow and my car was buried. And the street wasn’t plowed. So no one was going anywhere. I called my job to call out and I told the supervisor my situation and he was like “oh ok. Well, do you still think you’ll be in on time?”
Fr though. I’ve worked at multiple places where there’s half a foot of snow or more, roads aren’t plowed, and there’s even an emergency level, but these crackheads still stay open so that 5 customers can come in 🤦♂️
@@blindpew412 I hate this with customer service over the phone and it's a holiday. Those people can wait one damn day to speak with us tomorrow, we absolutely do not need to be open. Upper management likes to throw around the carrot of the day being "easy money!", but it's not always about the money and these places don't get that. I hate even going to the store on a holiday and tell my mom to get her shopping done before then, so as to not bother the workers and indeed, try tonmake their day as easy as possible. Ideally, the owners will catch a hint and close the store in the future on those days.
I only got approved for three days off when my dad died. This hits way too hard. Hate how corporations rule our personal and professional lives while we are supposed to lie down and take it.
There are laws that let you take family leave if the measly 3 days isn’t enough. You guys need to start calling HR and what not. Because I already know I’d be a mental and emotional mess if my parent passed and no, I will not be at work in 3 days!!!
Here's the thing, if you do what you're supposed to do, always show up, do your job well, etc...your PTO request will get denied every time because they need you there. They will work you until you break, and then replace you the next day without a second thought. I always encourage the kids I work with to get the best trade-school training or higher education possible so that they don't spend their entire lives at the mercy of people like this.
why even issue PTO if they never let you use it? at least at my workplace, the PTO hours accumulate without expiration, so if you gather up 400 or so you didn't get to use they'll just cash all of them in on your end-of-year paycheck so you'll get like $3,000-$8,000 extra dollars (whatever the hours were worth) in addition to whatever you normally worked or overtime worked. (They're really good about trying to give you some or all of your requests so this is somewhat of a rarity in employment.) but these places that "give you" PTO but then it's just wasted because the requests get denied are garbage. that's kinda like stealing from your employee, since that PTO is part of the compensation of working there that they are being forbidden to use. We saw this happen a lot during the pandemic, when people were short-staffed; requests were made to take off, to relieve the constant stress and overburdening, denied, and then earned PTO was lost. I think many people quit in droves because of it.
My mother, who's now passed, experienced this with her job when going through breast cancer. She got so fed up with the mistreatment from her boss she dragged her boss to the appointment and had the doctor explain to the boss's face why she can't do what she could do before. A manager who acts like this is a pile of trash and I hope they know where they're going when they die.
One step of maturing as an employee and an adult is learning when to walk out to take care of life circumstances. My friend missed the birth of his first child because our boss wouldn’t let him leave (not in a critical role, we were all sitting around.) I actually blame my friend and not our boss. Because it’s up to you to prioritize what matters now and what will matter years down the road in hindsight. You will get another job. You will make more money. But you will not get back that family time you lost. Learn when to make a time off request a notice and not a request.
He knew that his SO was giving birth down to the due date. In advance a request couldve been made for PTO or family leave. Its becoming a more recognized benefit coverage for people who have children, birthing, adoption or otherwise. I don't know if it takes immediate effect but 9 months on a new job (if ) y'all just started working there is plenty of time. Assuming your company offers that companies are cheap. Although, it sounds like a priority issue he knew a child was coming which is very costly. It makes sense in the long run. I'm sure he made the right decision for himself.
@@applecrumpies224 men don’t get those benefits in the industry I work in, unfortunately. But I understand where you are coming from. There’s a difference in making life problems work’s problems and taking care of yourself and your family, I get what you’re saying.
This is so dead on. I put time in for a dentist appointment, and they denied it. I called off and I said I have to go to my dentist appointment. I didn't care if I was fairly new during the time, one day isn't going to kill anyone. Then I came in the next day, and the store director brought me into her office and said that it was "irresponsible" to call off. Then I responded with, "Well, why didn't you accept my time off?" She dead ass responded with "Becuase we needed you." I responded with,"Well, I'd do it again because my appointments are more important than one day of work." After that, they never tried to test me with calling me during my days off to come in or making me stay late ever again except if it was from my own team lead who I respected a lot and didn't listen to any other team leads except for them and another team lead that worked at a different department. Don't kiss ass to these people. Because all they'll do is take advantage of you and give you more bs. Your own personal life is more important than the incompetence of people that barley lift a finger
The absolute worst part was when you had to stop working because the other department needed help. Bitch that’s not my problem I need to put these candles on the shelves
Damn near 15 years of retail, this gave me triggering AF vivid flashbacks. I still remember my last retail job in 2015 at the Apple Store. My mom got into an accident and my manager at the time SAID I COULDN’T LEAVE. “You’ve made a promise to our customers” with a straight face. Yeah I left and he tried to hit me with job abandonment. That got rolled back real quick and I quit a few months later.
This reminds me of my tenure in Geek Squad when I had a manager that would say “being sick isn’t an excuse to miss work” and would deny most PTO requests. They simply don’t want to adjust the schedule and find someone to cover your shift.
How long ago was that? I've worked there for 3 years now and I just took a week off to use of my PTO since it doesn't roll over. My managers encourage us to use it before it's gone for the free money. We also have enough staffing (part-timers willing to come in) to cover when someone is gone.
Walmart was notorious for not letting the peasants work crazy hours and they thought peasants don’t have feelings or lives but management had zero rules to follow and did whatever they wanted whenever
As a Manager, it always baffled me that other managers would deny time. I've never done it. One, because if someone is requesting, its because they need it. Two, if you can't operate your team without a couple of employees out, you are either short staffed or have not cross trained people enough. It's a reflection of your abilities to manage.
I wish you were my manager. I asked off 6 weeks prior to my child’s school fall break. Got denied 4 weeks after my request. Spouse went ahead and booked trip while I waited, now I have to stay home by myself and work while my family goes on vacation. 😓
I was denied my off request for my high school graduation. I skipped work anyways after communicating that, and then the manager called me upset I wasn’t there and he said “thanks for nothing” and then hung up sad and angry. Lmao
When I worked for Walmart some 25 years ago, all PTO was automatically denied. When it was denied the associates would then call out. When they terminate you or you quit they have to pay you for your accrued time.
One of the reasons PTO gets denied is due to "lack of staffing", which typically occurs because the business only wants to hire the bare minimum amount of people to do the work. Having been on the management side of this multiple times, I was constantly hounded over "labor costs", or the amount of money being spent on employees. Even though we typically had few enough people that one person getting sick or injured was enough to screw everything up or force me, the sucker they duped into a salary, to work the shifts. I know the bosses were still getting their big ol' paychecks and bonuses, and the only reason they wouldn't let us hire a couple more people or stop cutting the hours of those who already worked there is because it would hurt their bottom line. Cut bonuses that completely dwarfed the paychecks of the people making just over minimum wage below them. Tldr, PTO can be a nightmare due to corporate greed forcing stores and departments to run with not enough employees to account for people being absent.
I’m willing to bet people in the comments don’t realize how accurate this video is. 18 years at my store and I can verify this is how managers look at PTO.
@@warnertesla8297 yea the days I go to school I’m off, sometimes I need a little extra time to study for an exam or finish up a project tho. Safe to say they’re not very generous with it, they do pay for your college tho so heh.
I've been in a car accident on my way to work before, sent pictures as proof just incase, and they still asked if I was coming in for the day. Some of these companies couldn't care less about their employees.
One time everyone called off day shift so they called my friend to see if he can come in early, he said I gotta communicate with my wife about it. Then an hour later called back and said he wasn’t coming in earlier 😂
He needs to be picked up for a netflix series or something on one of these streaming platforms like deadass give him like 3 seasons of all his characters but not gon lie nobody hit like Jeff he gots to be a main character in all the episodes this n*gga is the funniest character ever bro
*Me visibly losing weight and having issues:* "I have cancer" *My manager giving me 60+ hours on the schedule again:* "That's not my problem. Don't know what you expect me to do"
I was hired on as a manager at XPO Logistics. I found out after I started that they had fired ALL the warehouse supervisors, and all the managers...three of them. I ran shipping, receiving, the office staff, and all the day to day supervision for 240 workers, across three shifts. I immediately hired a night shift supervisor, and had him come in at 8 pm, and work twelve hour shifts. I came in at 6 am, and most days, I stayed to close to midnight. I worked 110 out of 114 days, between 80 and 110 hours a week. Read that again. Early December, my CEO told me that I would have Christmas day off, only, for the next month. Ummm...NOPE. I will say that I was compensated..as they saved a f*ckton of money having me do the work of five people. I dropped my badge on the floor at his feet, and didn't even go back to my office for my lunch. I fully retired then, at age 61. This was five years ago, almost exactly. This facility, XPO Logistics in Bridgeton, Missouri, has gone out of business. Hell yeah.
