There is a reason so many countries wish to join NATO. There is a reason there are more US military bases abroad than any other country. It is because the US has foundational values, goals, and an outlook that will not screw over countries in the same way China or Russia may. Spying, deterrence, and aggression are inevitable. I am a USAF vet of ten years, and now work for lockheed martin in Japan. Japan by far making sure their military equipment and personell are top of the line! Japan does not play games when it comes to their military! Their new Sub is insane btw

Ski jump decks? Their advantage is 3-fold. 1. By using them, they save fuel for VSTOL (Vertical and Short Take Off and Landing) aircraft such as the Harrier and F-35 B. Only vertical take-off burns through alot of fuel. 2. They shorten take-off runways required onboard carriers. Remember the movie Midway from a few years ago? If the head winds and speed of the WW2 carriers were not great enough, the carrier aircraft stood a risk of ending up "in the dunk" or water during take-off. 3. By using them, they negate the installation of catapults.
