Absolutely fantastic Video Allistair. Thanks so much for all the detail and time. Can’t wait to see you get some machines up and running. Congrats on the 100k mark!
Love the content Alistair a real good machinery family keeping the old school plant culture alive.looking forward on August 5th to see the 96 and 97 pure👍
Since you got Robert's first restored tractor, I'd put that first to get running. Psychologically, it would be the "oldest" known running piece, and once it is going, the rest should be easier. Undoubtedly, there are going to be surprises like the donkey/pony motor turning over and the stuck tracks. So that puts questions on all the rest. I'm with everyone else as well, I'd like to see that compressor running. That is a gem. Thank you for saving these pieces of history. I tried searching for prices but couldn't find any. What did the Holt and Best tractors sell for, and the big Ole wide track with cab 5 units away from the 17 bottom plow? I think I saw a memo that the Plow was made by Robert's business. Did I understand that correctly? Thanks again, my tractor collecting brother. I'm 110 miles west of Chicago illinois.
Awesome!!!! You scored! I would love to see that compressor making noise! I envy yer picks! Bet yer die cast shovels cost more and these are even cooler!
Make that Big Beautiful Bertha, nothing better on the yard than a hi-cap forklift. Talking to Uncle Drew about his life and times would be absolutely fascinating I bet.
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………..NOW, you and Uncle Drew need to get to work! LOL we want to see y’all get these old girls running. Tell Uncle Drew Max said “Hey”. 👍🏼 I think I would like to see the air compressor first, just my opinion.
As we say in the states looks like you might have a touch of “Yellow Fever” I have suffered from it before, Caterpillars are addictive. Also Komatsu and John Deere. Anything yellow
The saddest thing about these two videos is that no doubt a lot of this guys passion will now be cut up for scrap. There are quite a few crawler repair videos. Get uncle Drew with you and get that compressor going. Hope they had that straight pipe covered and no water got in the exhaust.
Love Uncle Drew... always good to see and hear him. And thanks for documenting the sale with a drone... amazing footage. Is that Chicago Pneumatic? Get that one going first! An opportunity for more Drew. Glad you got Mr. Wilson's first restoration, that's historic.
Big Berther:- I used to work for Lansing Forklifts as a service engineer, I believe the B/B is possibly a 26,000lbs @ 48inch capacity model. Henley produced 2 basic models of Hercules 26,000lbs capacity, a short chassis model at 26.000lbs 24inch and a long chassis model at 26,000lbs@ 48inch load centres. There should be a serial no stamped in the chassis, if I remember correctly its somewhere around the drivers side tilt cylinder mounting and should include a suffix of 24 or 48 possibly, ex-raf maybe slighly different due to the MOD specs.
I loved part one so over the moon for part 2 the drone footage was great to get full scope on the amazing collection yeah i agree was pity you didnt stay 5 days for more seeing where and how everything was moved etc at least u saved a few a fine few i must say. Nice to see old ahem!!! mature machines helping other mature machines. I remember Uncle drew vid drilling the concrete out the large drill bits I think, and finally the forklift what a beast ❤ another great video
You could live stream a week's worth of you and Uncle Drew working on that compressor and I'd watch it!! Would love to see your Crawler up and running, and of course to hear the Compressor running. Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Knew that was an uncle drew compressor when I saw it. Didn’t realise it would be so heavy 😳you can tell he is itching to get into it. Keep away for a week and he will have it running
I have pulled far too many times on one of those, glad that I was 18, not 72! Like most things, was an acquired art to get the “pony “ running, then 12 hours of hearing D8 tracks rattling.
Glad you got them. Think he's looking down thankful that good people was able to save some of his treasures from the torch. And congratulations on 100k subs we all enjoy the content
Allistair, Greetings from Vancouver B.C. Canada, My Dad knew Robert Wilson well. He bought some tractors & parts from us in the 1990’s. We had a collection of cat tractors the biggest being a Diesel 75. I worked in a Quarry as a millwright, retired now. I am quite impressed with your welding on the toggle plate, fantastic work you do. I have subscribed, thank you for your videos 👍🏻
This is what I love to hear from RU-vid! Awesome to get some historical feedback! The power of the internet! I wish I was more familiar with Robert. His life certainly speaks for itself!
When I saw the compressor in pt1, I thought 'Uncle Drew's' would enjoy seeing that, but did not realise that it would be coming home with you, so it was good to see him around for the unloading and the walkaround. There are some YT crawler restoration / will-it-run videos out there, but I have not seen a CAT compressor brought back to life, so I'll place my vote now for that one first when you get time. No rush, it'll be worth waiting for. Not sure what the prices were like, but if that sale had been in the US I would guess the prices would have been inflated.
Nice on the 100K, you deserve if fixing those damned crushers. Concrete dust doesn't cut or weld. Then you drop this which isn't your first old iron video by far, but I hope the youtubes gives you some vacation time so you can crack into your ol beauties
I love that little D2! If you have trouble finding parts, you could always try to source some from the Soviet knock-offs, the KD-35 and T-100M. One thing I always wondered about was if George Lucas got his idea for the name for his cute little robot character from the cute little Cat R2/D2.... he was a farm boy, wasn't he, and many US farms in the 50's had one of the two knocking around. They made them from '33 (for the petrol R2) all the way to the late fifties for the diesels.
Some nice stuff there. It's the excitement in your uncles voice 👍 Was at Warringstown cavalcade last week and seen a couple of Murhill tractors. Thought of you guys
As a driller I would like to see compressor working I drilled in the 1980 with a Rolls-Royce engine compressor and one with big Detroit engine This was when learning the art of rock drilling Now on epirock D55 All the p Best Pete
Yourself and joe hewes really do a good credit to the oul jcb loadalls. Wait till the scale and quality of the cooke dispersal sale if the day were ever to come
Is there a difference between a donkey engine and a pony engine? Or, is that just a different name for the same thing? Thanks! Looking forward to the restoration videos.
That's one hell of a collection! Glad you managed to buy some of them. I bet a fair few have gone abroad?.... like yours😊. Pulling you're leg. If like to see the first restoration getting restored to working but any of them really. I see a lot want to see the compressor fixed and I'm fine with that too. They are yours so the choice should be yours.
What a shame. There's hundreds of thousands of hrs that built this country at that auction. No (hina steel there. Great job thanks for taking the time to share the video.👍
I have a compressor like this in Australia, but because we are Southern Cross fans it has a massive Southern Cross 4 cylinder engine instead of a CAT. We got a friend to load it onto his little truck, it nearly broke the truck!
Nice having a chance to visit the toy store, never mind coming home with a few goodies. I wondered what your uncle would think of that compressor, too.
