Real is a young currency. I was already a teenager when this become our new currency. The whole economic plan that created Real saved brazilian economy from a collapse which came from hyperinflation from the first post-military governments.

Actually (though not recognized as a country by most of the world) Northern Cyprus uses the Turkish Lira as well but it's considering switching to the Euro to match the de facto South.

The title is very incorrect. A country may have a currency with a similar name to another, like British pound to Iraqi Pounds, but they are not the same currencies- they are minted and printed in different ways, they look different, and most importantly, they have different actual value.
