I'm ex-forces myself, not SAS or anything like that but REME. I always believe those guys are born not trained, they have to have a certain mindset and mental strength that most people don't have, much respect to them and all special forces worldwide.

I've seen many interviews with ex SF members and you're absolutely right, you can't train for that mind set, you either have it or you don't.

My grandfather was in WWI, he used his bayonet. Nobody knew that fact until he passed away and my grandmother told us. Apparently he had nightmares for a number of years.

So did mine. He said if I didn't kill them, they'd have killed me. He was such a lovely gentle natured man who used to bake cakes do the whole street, can't imagine him having to see and do such horrors.

During WW2 my father in law was stationed for a year totally on his own in Africa, and suffered until his dying day with nightmares of the locals murdering him in his sleep. He would try to strangle my mother during his nightmares, can’t blame him, different times, never spoke about any of what he saw or went through, a lovely polite English guy, but from a time where he had never been out of his village until the war started.

Love this man, and thankful for his sacrifice & service, yet I cracked up when he said "depends what I got, if it's a sharp pencil, it may take a while & get messy" You just know, he could take out that room with a sharp pencil..😂😂😂 Big Salute 🫡

You have to have a definite mindset to be special forces, it’s absolute not something everyone can cope with. I met an ex special forces guy who worked in the same arena as my then husband. Lovely guy. Really nice. But those eyes. You could just see that man had killed. There was something so still about him, but those eyes were just different. We need to do better at supporting our ex forces. The US is a disaster - way way too many homeless ex forces

Neal uk reactiins. Also. I don't no how relaxed or how these sas reserves do it, but men and womon but no women have passed as far as I know, but all the sas recruits are already trained soldiers. And I think you have a minimum of corporal rank now. I believe was sergeant rank before before you could apply, Then you start zero rank again in sas. But SAS soilder out ranks probably a captain of army I'm guessing,

Honestly i grew up with my dad having friends in the SAS and SBS plus family in the force's and you simply do not ask that question it's very rude and disrespectful maybe that's just me but i have never asked that question not even when i was 5 years old plus because i knew that.
