You guys have the cutest back yard! I love petunias! Haven't grown them for some years because they get attacked so bad with worms! Purple is my color! The deep purple with the white tips are gorgeous!

You're absolutely right about the 'setup costs' of growing your own. The past few years have been phenominally expensive. But I can see the costs going down each year, as I now have the pots, containers, grow lights, seed trays etc to get me going each year. Now, it's just compost expenses and I'm not there yet with our compost bin. I love your baskets and I'm looking forward to seeing them bloom and thrive. Thanks for sharing. xxx

I really enjoy watching you two gardening together. You gave several good tips I'll need to remember. Will help if I write them down! I also have hanging baskets with petunias in them. The other day I saw a hummingbird there either getting a tiny bug or drinking nectar from the flowers.

Got a touch of plant envy there. We're getting into our colder months and even things in the greenhouse seem to be slowing down (though I do have some broccoli seedlings starting to come up... so that should be nice). I'm looking forward to Spring as I'm feeling a bit more confident with the next seasons cropping thanks to channels like yours, thanks a bunch! :D

Love Stars and stripes and do them every year. I also do Hula Hoop but I'm confused now (doesn't take much to do that!) as they look exactly like your Frost Petunias. I really enjoy watching the two of you together as I love your banter. You make a great team. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

I did far too many petunias last year from seed. Feed them and put them out there and by the time you get to August they're going to be spilling over the edges of your containers in big spills of colours and basically looking beyond amazing. Petunias NEVER let you down and they are good for bees too! I've always got them in my window boxes and my hanging basket and then they get thrown into all kinds of pots around the place. They will catch up!
@eliandkate
@eliandkate Год назад
I agree, they are awesome and catch up soooo fast!

I love putting my hanging baskets together every year i grow a mix of plants for them and a few window boxes which i don't put on the window stills, then a few wall planters, think I've got 4 different varieties of plants that have come back for the 3rd year now. I don't really have the room for lots of seeds so i try and pick as many for the baskets and planters that come back every year. 😊 I actually put sweet pea into some baskets and planters because they grow up the chain and also hang / grow down and just keep flowering.

Hey 👋 great video, I’m just learning, so about the baskets, could you possibly do a video on baskets, which ones, how to choose, what basket is best, how to clean, how to store, when to fetch down and empty, etc etc. I see so many baskets and fillings and what not, it’s all do daunting xx

Now I'm beginning to think you are watching me 😄🕵‍♀️🧐 I've grown so many petunia this year (more than last year) from seed. I just love them, if I could have them all year round I'd be so happy. I went for Grandiflora, Super Cascading, Stars & Stripes, Pirouette and Wave varieties so looking forward to seeing them in full bloom soon. Love your video (as always) well done Kate, great job 👏 and not forgetting you either Eli 👏 Looking forward to seeing your baskets in bloom, please do a follow up (Tina - Dublin Ireland ☘)

So so desperately need to get my baskets done! I've had poor germination, well Zero germination of my petunias, the trailing verbena are very small. Top tip, I tend to fill mine hanging up, saves the chain 'issue' I've got some amazing trailing begonias to put in, I did them a couple of years ago, how amazing they looked. Take care x

Oh wish mine looked like that! A lot of my plants have been so slow this year as I’ve been trying a different compost. Same size as your small ones…Then my seedlings were eaten by a slug which found its way into the greenhouse 😢 had to resort buying some! 4 trays…2 of which were reduced to 60p all because they need a little water and love 😂

I am so mixed between flowers and edible plants this year! You would think as a guy I wouldn't care but for some reason beautification of a space allows you to appreciate it more. I have zinnia carnation alyssum and marigolds started. Alyssum is the only thing with flowers at the moment and the carnations looked like they wanted to trail a bit but some of standing tall. 🤷‍♂️ expirements!
@eliandkate
@eliandkate Год назад
Oh no I completely get it Andrew. I think this is something a lot of folk forget, a garden is an extension to your home, so yeah it's great we have space to grow food, but it's also nice to make it a space you enjoy.... It's why we have lawns and flower beds and container areas as well as food growing areas. Makes it a lovely space to be in.
