Wilt Chamberlain only has one title in a Laker uniform. Was with them for only 5 years and got his jersey retired. 19pts and 17 rbs he averaged with LA. 1 ring. Lebron averaged 27, 8 and 8 in 6 years with LA, 1 ring. Why shouldn’t LeBron have his jersey retired??

His Lakers resume is already more than most players who get their jerseys retired. Those jersey retirements are based on longevity for that organization but at the end of the day they’re a very loved role player by their fan base.

Michael Jordan had his jersey retired in Miami without even playing for them; Jerry West has only one championship with the Lakers; Wilt as only one championship with them as well. It does not matter how many champions you deliver for a team, but the impact you have for them. He definitely deserves to have his jersey retired for them. After many years, he has brought back the Lakers on the map!

Won them a ring and a FMVP, NBA Cup and NBA Cup MVP, 6+All NBA and All Star, All time leading scorer record. 27/8/8 as a Laker. Good for 2nd in PPG in their history and 2nd in APG. Even if he retired today his jersey should be retired.

I mean i was on the fence bout LA retiring his jersey but he broke KAJ scoring record on the same team so I do think LA would retire his jersey. It’d be a neat piece of history down the line. Two of the top 2 scorers in NBA history both broke the point record as a laker. Not to mention you have them doing it with the iconic move of their generation, with Kareem it’s the skyhook and with Bron it’s the fadeaway

You’re wrong SA, Jeannie already confirmed that he’ll get his jersey retired in LA. The criteria for an LA jersey to get retired is to be a HOF’er not championships. That’s why Micheal Coopers isn’t yet and also why Gasol had to be inducted 1st. CLE for sure along with a statue and MIA for sure even with the bad blood with Riley. That’s why no one has worn 6 since he left.

Thanks for your opinions, Mr. Smith, I agree with you 100%. Miami and Cleveland for sure will retire James' jersey, but not 100% sure if they will in LA. I hope they do. He broke the all-time NBA scoring record in a Laker uniform and won a title there, as well.
