All different sorts of car racing from high speed Rally Racing in the forest to Formula 1 on the track. Racing cars can come in a variety of options. Thanks for watching.
if im being honest, this video doesnt explain anything very well at all. the best way would be through watching actual racing and properly informative content about each individual sport, rather than a comedy video that distills and stereotypes each type, while giving no actual substance.
Theres ALOOTTT of different motorsport categories and this video barely scratches the surface of it so its ok to not know all of em. If I had to list out the more well known motorsports and group them up then it’d be 1. Formula 1 and the subsequent feeder formulas like formula 2 or super formula, 2. Nascar and various other oval racing categories, 3. Indycar which is similar to f1 in terms of being open wheel but very different otherwise, 4. Motogp and the lower moto categories and SBK, 5. WRC, rallycross and Dakar, 6. Hillclimbs, 7. GT cars, sports cars, touring cars like BTCC and Endurance cars like in WEC, 8. Drag racing. Its not an exhaustive list but this covers most of what you’ll hear about, theres alot of other awesome motorsport categories that dont get as much recognition as they should though like Sidecar racing or stadium truck racing. Its ok to be overwhelmed at first but its something that just comes with time and exposure, most people usually just pick 1 or 2 motorsports they like and stick to it which is fine but I find it fun to just enjoy all kind of motorsports but its different for everyone so dont worry abt it too much.
well this video is kinda wrong types are depending on where you race road racing circut offroad for road racing its mostly illegal activities but there are events like rally stages which happen on public roads but are closed for public traffic or other events which uses roads rally is not offroad because even if its gravel road its a road obviously for each type there are groups circut obviously on racing track offroad is obviously offroad to this cattegory its hard to pick any specific events because pretty much all offroad events are not race type events but things like rock or dune climbing i guess there might be some events that are actuall races but only one thing i could think off is Dakar rally but its mixed conditions someties using public roads other times navigating trough sahara now types of discipline race pretty much easiest to understand bunch of cars start at one moment and places are assigned by who passed finish line first, second etc time attack every car starts on its own trying to put best lap or stage time possible there is more than one chance you are allowed to make multiple laps or try multiple times stage mostly in rally its pretty much the same as time attack but there is just one chance you cant try again the same stage point based i guess only drifting and stunts fit to this cattegory you have judges that give points for how well drivers executed their stunts now every type of racing track can host any event discipline but then we have to specify which cars can participate so there are so called groups each group is assigned to specific event sometimes multiple groups each group have list of requirements and regulations these speciffy what parts can be replaced, modified also how much modified in comparison to road legal car its specifying how much horsepower can engine make and how much can car weight but at the same time one group doesnt mean cars cant vary in horse power and weight to keep it competetive cars with less power or smaller engines can be lighter so each team decides if they want car that will be faster in straight line or take corners a little better cars that are used are divided into two groups open wheelers and closed wheelers open wheelers are formula 1 cars there is no fender around the wheel closed wheelers are any cars that resemble road cars there is a fender around the wheel now its just a matter of which cars you like most really i like cars that are based on production cars so DTM races from 90s (new DTM cars are literally formula 1 cars with shells based on production models everything is changed and its unpossible to build something like this from car you can actually buy), rally cars, time attack events well basically any events that use modified production cars
Yes and no. Some racing series share circuits. Qatar for example hosts F1 and Moto GP races. Mexico hosts F1 and Formula E. Others like drag racing are used for drag racing only, same with Rallying.
Categories like WEC, F1 and Motogp often share circuits together but it depends on the country tbh, its better to think of it as the race tracks being seperate venues who host for many different categories and not really exclusively for just 1 category, for example, the circuit of americas in Texas hosts F1 races, Indycar races, Nascar races, Motogp races and WEC races but obviously it depends. Temporary Street circuits obviously will have a harder time being so open for hosting like the Singapore circuit is almost run exclusively for F1 because they can only really afford to host it once a year due to it having a massive affect on the surrounding public due to being on public roads.
