For his first post-‘Avengers: Endgame’ role, and his first non-MCU role in three years, Mark Ruffalo returns to true-to-life drama with Todd Haynes’ ‘Dark Waters.’ The Certified Fresh film follows corporate defense attorney Robert Bilott, who takes on a lawsuit against chemical company DuPont and uncovers its long history of dangerous pollution in West Virginia. The movie, drawing comparisons to ‘Erin Brockovich’ and the Ruffalo-starring Oscar-winner, ‘Spotlight,’ is poised to make an impact this awards season as it expands into wide release nationwide. We sat down with Ruffalo to talk about the challenges of portraying an unsung real-life hero and why he felt Bilott’s story needed to be told.
