Merab Dvalishvili just defeated Sean O Malley at UFC 306 by unanimous decision Follow me on instagram: www.instagram.... For Business Inquires: ytmmache@gmail.com
I’m ngl man I don’t even know what you do with someone like Merab khabib or prime Daniel Cormier. It seems like you literally have to somehow be a better grappler than them to win. Which is essentially impossible because of their insane EPO pace and the mat time. Cormier doesn’t count because he’s 5’10 at 205+ with short arms, so someone who happened to be better than him was also 6’4 so he stood no chance
The spirit of lucas came down from the heavens, entered into your head through the gap in your teeth, and possessed you. This is his vengeance for the diss track.
@@upliftmofoOrtega can’t box to save his life☠️☠️☠️ he got taught how to box by a skinny Hawaiian during a fight. Ortega has amazing jiu jitsu and no takedowns that’s it. He’s essentially screwed in the mma format.
Grapplers have adapted. Sport is just evolving. Previously strikers dialed in on takedown defense and controlling the distance with strikes to prevent takedowns to begin with. Strikers like Adesanya and O’Malley on the path to becoming champions made it clear trying to close that distance would be dangerous for the competition at the time. Just look at when Sterling got clipped by O’Malley, you can see the lack of defense responsibility on Sterling’s part. Now the grapplers have began to dial in on becoming more defensively sound on the feet, giving them the confidence and opportunities to engage with the strikers on the feet which is required in order to get a hold of them and take them down. The methods they used to setup and secure takedowns were never bad and they aren’t really outdated, but the risk of taking damage before being able to use them was just too great. Now they’re adapting.
I gotta say, and I do mean this genuinely, I feel you have one of the best managed ego’s in all of RU-vid mma. Your ability to appreciate merabs game plan and call it beautiful, even though it went against how you thought it’d play out, is really cool. I personally fucking hate Merab with a passion so I’m down bad, but since Charles lost to Islam my interest in mma has been dying anyway.
I think part of the issue is that O‘Malley was not willing to let the fight turn into Israel Adasanya vs Yoel Romero. He could have just held the center and jabbed but that would go against his brand as a flashy finisher.
That’s his bad if that’s so. He could have done the Izzy game plan and just kicked Merabs leg all night. Especially once he saw how it went each time he did over extend. Unlike Yoel he was the champ
Merab seemed to use a similar strategy against Peter Yan he completely neutralized Yans offensive game to the point he was joking around just like in this fight. Merab is a much better fighter than many give him credit for. He's making most of these high level strikers look like child's plan.
I had Suga winning. I definitely did not expect Merab to pull out such a brilliant strategy. He performed like a completely different person. Goes to show that while he says "I make him look normal," he clearly fears and respects Sean for his strengths. And Sean was so cocky, he didn't adjust properly when it came time. I want to see a rematch soon
After Sean vs Chito my first thoughts were Chito sucks, everyone is overpraising O'malley and Merab will ragdoll him. I went and let this guy convince me otherwise. So annoyed at myself.
I dunno if this is my bias because i got the outcome i wanted but this is the best take ive seen on this so far. So many people complained it was boring (and the judges too, wtf was up with that). Merab knew what he had to do to beat Sean and he did it. It wasn't a belal snooze fest either. He might not have brutalised Sean on the ground but he out-struck him, every round and controlled him too. I Dunno what fight everyone is complaining about but that was what i wanted to see and Merab did it.
I swear Sean Looked so scared so scared it was mindboggling how the f he was even a Champ disgrace and guy couldnt take damage he was so hurt when Merav threw his BS shots like car was going at him
Watching this live I thought it was a complete washout by Merab. Watching it back Sean took 3 and 5 and 1 was close but I gave it to Merab. The narrative around this fight is crazy to me now.
I feel like O’Malley had to either get on his bike and jab the guy to death or pick him apart from range, he jabbed when he should have been throwing power shots and threw power shots when he should have jabbed. Imo poor game planning by O’Malley’s corner, definitely a winnable fight for him. When he started opening up and forcing Merab back in round five it looked like a different fight.
Idk I feel like this era of champions is pretty good. Islam is really skilled Alex is just awesome to watch Tom is a killer DDP makes grown men cry Ilia has a lot of potential to have a good title run BW feels like the belt will trade hands a lot WW has a lot of talent coming up. It could be a lot worse honestly
As a wrestler this fight was infuriating, at least in wrestling there are stall calls. Merab was literally punching the air and shadowboxing 6 feet away from O’Malley. Either make the cage smaller or have stalling calls.
I wanted Sean to win but my buddy made a good point. "Bro, this is how you would fight so why you complaining" lol. We are both former college wrestlers.
I thought you said Wrestling was dying in MMA, yet the 3 newest UFC champions used wrestling to win the belts. Its only a matter of time for Periera to get exposed by someone with high level mma grappling.
Finally someone gives credit to Merab and his team for crafting the perfect game plan, everybody is just saying Sean didn’t want to win but they’re just plain wrong
I wasn’t surprised at all with the result, but I was a *little* surprised with the game plan. And I was definitely surprised so many people picked Sean seeing as Merab is probably the worst matchup for Sean besides Umar. I knew Merab was going to be more careful with his entries because of studying Sean’s fight with Aljo and seeing how reckless Aljo was. But I didn’t think he was going to be the one circling on the outside. He made Sean come to him and get himself out of position which was smart. And not to mention he had the much superior corner with Ray Longo, John Wood, and Aljo himself. So of course they were gonna come up with a perfect game plan lol. I’m happy for Merab and if Umar can’t beat him, nobody can imo. At least not right now
we often overlook khabib like grapplers and overestimate the ability of point fighters like sean to intercept wrestlers. when it should be other way around. time and again we have seen( usman, belal, etc) that a heavy top pressure wrestler will dominate a striker.
Hi . I think calling Merab created a gameplay for Sean O'Malley is not correct. There is nothing Merab did specifically for this fight. He did the same thing he did in all of his fights, there was no deviation from that.
Merab was so determined to fight Sean 🤣 I was worried about that for so many months because I thought Sean was huge and strong and I was afraid that Merab was a silly dreamer and would lose and his life would end because he's a big baby😆 The fight was at 7 AM and I couldn't stay up, but then the Georgian anthem woke me up 😆 Now I don't care about anything else
These so called "MMA RU-vidRS" gaslit the hardcore mma fans into thinking that 0'Malley will chin Merab. Yall always keep yapping about things you clearly don't understand like you're an expert just because you have a platform
Merab changed his game plan perfectly, in a way nobody has ever seen him do before. Even the people who thought Merab would win did not predict how and why he would win. The closest anyone has gotten to it is saying "it will be because of his takedowns." Nobody noticed his entire style changed, and that any fighter who's got the cocky, undefeated attitude might fall for it. Nobody got gaslit. It was a surprise to everybody
